Where have you found you can eat out really cheaply?
We can go to Dickey's BBQ on Sundays when kids eat free. We get one meal to share and 2 waters. The 2 meat plate is huge and comes with 2 huge sides. The kids meal has a full size portion of meat, plus a side, hush puppies and a drink. We end up spending $12.50 and sometimes have leftovers. Oh and Dickey's has free ice cream.

We usually go places where they have specials. For example, Moxies had $5 appetizers for all of September. So we would go out, order 3 appetizers to split between us (or 4 if K came), and were out the door for less than a single meal at Moxies would cost.
We also use Wagjag/Groupon a lot for local reataurants. When you can pay $20 for a $40-50 gift certificate, it makes going out a lot cheaper.

We don't typically eat "fast food", so I feel like nothing is cheap when we eat out! We have a pan Asian restaurant next door and they were reasonable before, but prices went up 50% this summer! That said, we probably only eat out once or twice a week under normal circumstances.

Chinese restaurants because portions are huge and we always have leftovers!
Luby's has special days where kids eat free with a purchase of an adult entree. The 3 of us can split 1 adult and 1 kid entree and still be plenty full!

@mediagirl: is dicky's good? We have one very close to us but I have yet to try. When DH and I goto chipotle we share one burrito bowl with guac and a side of chips. It's plenty of food and we spend like $10!

Happy hours! SUPER cheap food! We get a variety of crap and just share it amongst us all. Even with beer, it's about $15.

@buttermilk: I think so. I'm not a big meat eater but I am a big fan of their brisket and their spicy cheddar sausage.

@blackbird: so, 2 weeks ago we went out. My husband got an appetizer, I got a beer and lo got a kids meal. It was still like $30. lol....we really need to watch where we are eating.

We often share a meal and/or get water to drink. We don't eat out a ton and when we do it's usually somewhere like CFA. LO is 17 mos so he still just shares with us most of the time unless it's somewhere with a free kids meal.

@mediagirl: You need better HH places There's an Elephant Bar by us and you can get a beer, burger, and fries for $7! Then I get an appetizer for about $5 or $6, we split it all with E, and I get a $3 beer. Done and done.

Family casual restaurants like Chili's, Friday's or Applebee's have lunch specials available until 3 or 4 pm. Buy it then, save it for later!

Happy Hour is huge in Portland ... we do 1 a few times a month. Usually kids eat free or for $1 during happy hour. There's a bar next door with tacos and tots. We share a bunch of different tacos with LO, and usually spend $10-$15, including drinks.
Chipotle is our go-to fast food though, and I love that I can just share with LO and we're both full.
