When you eat out with a big group of friends...do you divide the bill equally or just pay for your portion/tip?
I am friends with a few cheapskates(they only order green salad but eats the appetizers that she "didn't" want to order) so the dividing thing never works out!

I'm open to whatever the group wants. It usually ends up being divvying equally and we usually end up paying more. Some people like to forget there's tip and tax! And we don't usually order alcohol when we eat with a big group and others do.

Haha we divide evenly usually. Although we once travelled w people for a month that wanted to divide everything perfectly. Such a waste of time!

We usually ask for separate checks. Or we divide equally if it's a smaller party.

Depends on which group of friends. With my close girlfriends, we always divide equally because we always share our plates. With not so close friends, we'll just pay our share of the bill.

We ask for separate checks. We never have an issue with apps, none of us mind picking up the extra few bucks so we'll switch on and off buying them.

Depending on the group, it's either divided up equally or we take turns picking up the tab for everyone.

We'll ask for separate checks. It's never fair when some people order apps, meals and desserts and drinks(!) and others order just a meal.

We usually split it equally. Honestly though if it's a small group often one of us will just grab the whole bill. And some one else will grab it the next time around. My friends and I are all very generous with each other.

We usually split equally. Or sometimes, the waiter just brings separate bills. Sometimes if it's just a small group or double/tripled ate, DH usually picks up the tab.

We ask for separate checks or pay for what we ordered. Hubs and I were always stuck paying more than we should have because of things like shared apps, tax, tip, etc. Now we make sure we get to the bill first and put our fair share down, so we're not stuck with the leftovers at the end.

We pay for our portion + tip. But with close friends we take turns paying the entire bill.

We generally prefer to split equally, just because it's easier, unless we owe more, in which case we'll usually say that we'll cover the whole tip or something. And sometimes we'll pick up the whole thing. 90% of the time we go out with friends, it's people we see all the time and there's so much pooling of resources and treating one another and cooking each other meals that there's no way to do any kind of really accurate accounting, and none of us have any interest in it anyhow.
We're less inclined to do this now that we have a kid and a huge daycare bill, but when we were both in "real" jobs and lots of our friends were still in grad school, we'd often pick up the tab.

We do seperate checks where it is all figured out for us. Less issues that way.

We ask for separate checks or at least have them group our items together then we can figure out who owes what easier.

I hate hate hate when people ask to pay only for what they ate. I find it to be such an annoyance--someone then has to sit down with the bill and figure it out, factoring in whether there were appetizers or drinks for the table. To me, if you go out to eat with a group of people, you accept that you will be splittiing the bill, and when you agree to go, you should have full knowledge of how much the restaurant costs, what the entrees are like, etc. Now, if someone decides to order a $200 bottle of wine and you don't have any, that's one thing. But if you partake in appetizers, etc, everything should be splilt. And I find it even more annoying when someone refuses to order anything but the cheapest entree on the menue, and only drinks water, and doesn't have any appetizers/dessert that other people have ordered. It ruins the whole experience for me, personally. I may also be feeling a little sensitive about this because I recently went out with a group of 11 girls for a bachelorette party, and three of the girls made a big fuss about only paying for what they ordered--never mind that they also have some of the apps that I and another girl had ordered, but didn't offer to pay for that, and that the process of telling everyone what to pay took forever and was SO STUPID. Grr!

Depends on the group of friends I'm with honestly. But in most cases we divide it equally.
