DH and I are holding off on our plans to TTC another baby at 6 months due to my really hard/long/semi-scary birth experience. This changes my bc plans! I am BF-ing and don't relish the idea of a lot of hormones either. The earliest we'll try to TTC again is when baby Grizz is a year to 18 months old. Possibly 2 years old. What have you tried and liked?

I didn't get AF back until 11.5 months. We were planning on NTNP for #2, but we've decided to hold off for a few months. Condoms it is.

Condoms for us too. I don't want to take the chance messing with our breastfeeding situation, since everything is going well. I'm also not keen on going back on hormonal bc until I'm done having children. I was on for a long time before we started TTC and it took us a long time to get pregnant. I know people say it doesn't affect fertility but I don't want to take the chance. We're planning on TTC when LO is a year old.

We used condoms in conjunction with some NFP... I'm out for hormonal bc indefinitely! Ecological breastfeeding is actually a pretty effective form of bc (98+% in the first 6 mths & I believe 96+% after that).... it just has to be done correctly!

I got a Mirena. Love it! And I'm still EBF at 11+ months.

I'm currently debating this too. We're not sure if we'll have a second baby or not, but even if we do we need to wait 18-24 months to try for a VBAC.
Trying to decide between the Mirena, Paraguard or mini-pill. I'm really not keen on hormonal bc, but am also not crazy about the heavier periods that accompany the Paraguard. I also don't trust charting right now on account of EBFing and inconsistent waking times. Really don't know what to do...

@hergreenapples: a bit off topic, but just wanted to throw it out there you need 18 months between deliveries (not delivery & pregnancy) so waiting to ttc until 8 mths is really all you need to wait. I know moms that have had 14 mths between deliveries as well.

@runsyellowlites: thanks! I figured that was the case, but wasn't 100% sure. Regardless, we'd probably want at least 2.5-3 years between children (if we decide to have another...the jury is very much still out on that!).

I picked up the mini pill yesterday. It is safe for breast feeding but has a higher failure rate so we might use condoms too!

We use the Creighton method of NFP. I like it postpartum because there's no temp charting so I don't have to worry about night wakings or temp variances. I'm 6 months PP with no AF anyway now though.

We didn't use anything. I briefly took the mini pill for 1.5 months starting at 6 weeks pp, but with DS's allergies it made him sick so I had to stop it. AF returned 17 mo pp and I got pregnant at 22 mo pp.
