This is probably a silly question but... How do you use the ergo when you're alone?? Both my husband and I love it but buckling the back buckle always needs another person. I'd really like to use it when it's just LO and I but I can't figure it out.

I can't figure it out either! When I pick up my LO from daycare, I always have to ask one of the teachers to help me. So embarrassing - I feel like I should be able to do it except I tried once and cramped my neck and shoulders and my LO was not happy with all the twisting I was doing.

I need a ponytail so that the back/neck clip doesn't get in my hair but I always do it myself.
I snap it around my waist before unbuckling DS from his carseat and put one shoulder strap over. I get him out and put him in. Put the second shoulder strap over and get him seated in there good. I reach both hands up and behind my neck and click the neck/back strap. Then I grab the sides and make sure they're good, tight and secure. -
I have watched a friend use hers with a front carry and she's able to snap the back buckles herself by reaching behind her...I guess it depends on how stretchy you are? Maybe you can practice without a baby in it just to get comfortable and see if it might work by yourself.

You can do the shoulder strap alone! I clip mine just like rachiecakes said, I reach both hands behind my neck and clip it once I've got her in. It's a little awkward sometimes, but doable.

Not easily! I think it is better now that he is older and can sit up.
It depends on front or back carry too... putting him on my back is much easier... I put the Ergo on one arm and fasten the waist belt, sit him down in the car with his legs straddling my back, and scoot him in. Lots of bouncing to get him shifted into place before putting the other arm through! It helps to loosen the strap that connects the two arm straps all the way, so I can reach it to pull it snug at the end.

@Running Elley: I struggled with this at first but then I went back and looked at the instructions reall carefully and now I am able to put it on by myself for both front and back carry
I agree with @lemondrop: back carry is much easier

I do the same as @zippylef: and @rachiecakes: Make sure you have the back clips in the right location (they slide up and down the shoulder straps). It makes a huge difference!

Heh.... Interesting. I'm going to have to try again! I always snap it around the waist first but I couldn't snap the top myself. But it's been awhile since I've tried. I'm going to see if I can do it now! Now I'm motivated to figure it out lol

I snap the waist in front then slide it around (if doing front carry). Check the placement of the "chest" clip, it might need adjusted higher or lower.

@Weagle: this! They're on a runner so you can move them up to a place where you can reach.

I snap the waist first too, then put one strap IP, shuffle lo in and then put the other strap on then buckle the back with both hands. I have long arms though. DH says he has t-rex.arms and has trouble with the back buckle too.

I found an awesome youtube video on how to use it alone with a newborn insert. I don't use the insert but use her same method. I will search for the link.

I always put the Ergo on completely with the side straps losened then add A in. Once she is in nicely I tighten the side straps like the video. When I'm ready to remove her I just unsnap the side instead of the back snap.

I also watched some YouTube videos that Ergo actually made - it's possible to do the shoulder strap by yourself.

It was hard but I was always able to get it on.

I can never snap in the back clip! I always have the hubs help me. I tried once by myself, and like @lisa1783 I gave myself a cramp!

I did it I did it!!!!!! I had no idea the straps to the back clip could be moved up. Once I slid them up a little higher I was able to put it on with no problem! Thanks ladies!
