@blackbird: big law firm ~ 2k. Smaller law firm - maybe 1500.

@blackbird: It really depends on whether it is a flat fee agreement or whether it is an hourly fee agreement . . . with the hourly rate, it depends on the size of the firm (100+ attorneys = *big,* relatively speaking), and the billing rate of the attorney who will be doing the work (which should be disclosed in the fee agreement . . . although more than one attorney may work on the file, so keep in mind what the blended rate of those hourly charges may be . . . although all possible categories of billers/rates should be disclosed in the fee agreement).

My guess is that would range anywhere from $1k to $3k (flat fee), for a normal, not-too-complicated set up. . . or $1k+ for an hourly fee agreement.

@looch: we also used our employer benefit which is $17 per month.

So it cost us nothing on top of that fee

@blackbird: you would know if you had it, we learned about it during open enrollment for healthcare in the fall.

@blackbird: you'd be surprised, because the legal benefits actually cover a lot more...including buying/selling real estate, estate planning, representation in case you get sued, tax audit support, etc.
