My work threw me a shower and gave me a gift card from the collective group. Since I have no idea who did/didn't contribute and I want to thank them all for throwing it, should I write individual thank you notes? A group email? I am such a stickler for thank you notes but I have no idea who did what.

We got one group gift for our wedding and I did individual thank you notes for it. I'm not sure if that's the correct way, I just didn't want to send out a mass thank you because it felt a little impersonal.

I've seen group emails. It's fairly common in my workplace.

I think a group thank you would be appropriate since you don't know who individually contributed.

At my old office everyone left holiday cards & mass TY cards on the receptionist desk so that's what I did.

I'd try to find out who organized the event and see if you can get a list of who contributed. I've collected for people before and we always have a list of who contributed (not necessarily amounts).

A few ladies at work have mentioned throwing me a baby shower, so I'm interested to see what the proper etiquette is!

I wrote a group email to everyone on my office shower "meeting notice" and I brought donuts my last day and left out a mass thank you next to the donuts.
When I contribute to an office shower gift I never expect someone to track me down with a personal thank you. All I expect is an email 'birth announcement' sent to someone in the office when LO arrives. (And I hope for a baby office visit at some point but I totally understand the fear of germs logistic difficulties)

I write thank you cards to everyone. Some people brought their own gifts but then everyone that gave money to the group gift, signed a card. The lady that collected the money and did the shopping, gave me a list as well. I wrote the same them in all those cards to make it easier on me.

I just asked my coworker who coordinated the shower, and she couldn't remember who all contributed but said there were definitely people who signed the card who didn't contribute, and people who contributed who weren't there to sign the card. She said she thought a group email would be fine since there are so many of us. I hope she's right! I am such a stickler about thank yous

This happened to me for my work wedding shower and I just sent an email to my entire group thanking them for the shower and the gift. I had only been working there a few months and this was when the other members of my team were being really catty to me in general so I have a feeling it was just my manager who bought the gift, but I had no way of finding out so I just thanked everyone.

I think a group email is fine, then maybe an actual thank you to the people you know coordinated it. In my office the card goes around to sign and you can put money in if you want, but you are in no way obligated to in order to sign the card. So I think I will send a TY to anyone who signed the card or comes to the party, but I know my direct group of 4 people I work with will be actually planning it, so they will get an actual TY card.
I also don't think most people really notice if they get a TY for a group gift at work like that.

If your office has a break room you could still handwrite a note and leave it on the table, fridge or bulletin board.

This happens at our office a lot, and it seems the norm is sending out a group thank you email, and then bringing in donuts or bagels
