So DH and I are staying in for NYE and probably won't even stay up to watch the ball drop. But we'd sort of like to celebrate early and were thinking we could probably find some live streaming video of the ball drop (or... whatever they do there? lol) in like.. London or something.
Has anyone ever done this? Which European city has the best midnight celebration? And where can we watch?

That's a great idea! I am not sure about how to do it but my husband did mention today that Netflix has a ball drop show of some sort that you can turn on whenever you're ready.

While it wouldn't be quite the same, you could youtube the 2013 countdown
We have often celebrated Newfoundland New Years (which is also now too late for us in Ontario...it was better in Alberta!), and last year we did the youtube 2012 countdown at a family party at 7:30. Perfect! In bed by 9 and no worse for wear!

Such a good idea! We're always in bed by 10:00 at the latest these days and there's no way I'm giving up precious sleep just to watch TV at midnight!

I'm in Europe, but I'm no help since I'll probably be asleep before midnight. 
Maybe tune into the BBC? I think most places just have a lot of fireworks.

I only know about the big party at Brandenburger Tor in Berlin. It's live concerts and then a NY Countdown followed by fireworks. About 1 mio people come out to celebrate. That be EST-6h though.

London has fireworks and countdown on the South Bank - it's televised on BBC1, not sure if you can get that?

My sister celebrates Irish New Year's with her kids. There is an Irish bar that has a huge family friendly party that they attend every year and when it's over, they can go home and put he kids to bed!

I'm in Atlantic Standard Time which is 1 hour ahead of EST - our biggest celebration would be the Halifax one, but it's no Times Square
