Would you worry or call your pediatrician if your lo had a cough for an extended period of time? Not a major cough, just something that comes up once or twice every day for 3+ weeks. Mostly it is just a phlegmy cough, like she's trying to clear her throat.

We are actually going to the pediatrician for this this afternoon. My LO has been coughing for a month. The past week she's also started sleeping poorly and this morning she told me her "mouth hurts". I really think it's just the fall day care funk, but I want to get her checked out.

@mediagirl: nope, coughs can linger for 3 weeks or more after a cough. This has definitely happened with m.

In my experience, some coughs can definitely linger for quite some time. Unfortunately, Xander has asthma, so coughs always make me nervous. I'd probably call the pediatrician around 3 weeks to ask their opinion if it wasn't getting any better.

@Adira: it has definitely gotten better!! It just seems to be hanging around a bit and comes out either first thing in the morning or after eating.

@mediagirl: That sounds pretty normal to me, so I think you're probably fine. Especially if your LO doesn't have asthma or any additional concerns.
