I found an unopened box of Cocoa Puffs in my pantry with a 8/1/2012 expiration date. Would you still eat it?!

Not if I saw it was expired, I'm a freak about that stuff.

Yep! 8/1 was only 2 weeks ago..!
Dood, I don't think I've ever checked expiration dates on cereal...

Yeah I'd take a bite - if it wasn't stale I'd eat it.
I was exhausted yesterday so my aunt offered me a Coke, and I drank over half the can before my cousin noticed the 2010 Fifa ad on it. It expired Feb 2011. I'm fine lol.

I don't think it actually goes "bad" just maybe a bit stale....I'd eat it if I weren't pregnant. My DH would eat it, but he's no standard of health...:)

@mrs. bird: me neither! My brother bought this box (and Lucky Charms) when he was visiting after I had LO. He hated my plain Cheerios and Special K!

I'd try it and if it didn't taste stale then yep; cereal is expensive.

Heck yeah! It's not like the cereal has a timer on it and all of a sudden on 8/1 it went bad. It's fine!

I would eat it...I'll eat most things past the expiration date, with the exception of meat and dairy. I think of the date as more of a guideline (and if it didn't taste right, then I would toss it).

Yes. Expiration dates are usually put on as earlier than the day that food goes bad, so a couple weeks past that for cereal I think its fine. I'd see if it tastes normal first of course...but that's just me!

@autumnlove: what??? who hates cheerios? that's like hating vanilla ice cream! they're totally neutral, maybe it's not the absolute fav of most people (i happen to love them!), but it's hardly objectionable! i've eaten lucky charms once- it was one of those little single serving ones, we got it as a sample in something so my mom let me eat it- it wasn't pretty, apparently my belly rejects such cereals, they stayed down less than 5 minutes =D

Is it an expiration date or a best buy date? I'd eat it regardless.
