I'm 11 weeks pregnant and just found out that a 2 yr old I sit for has coxsackie virus (hand, foot & mouth disease). The mom claims she asked her ped and she said it's no big deal for me to have been exposed. I headed straight to Dr. Google and I'm getting nervous. I always wash my hands but you know how toddlers are, with their hands all over you. I'm going to call my doc in the morning but does anyone have any experience with this?

I was potentially exposed through my 3 yo DD at the time when I was 38 weeks pregnant. My OB was only concerned that I'd go into labor and my newborn would be exposed... she wasn't worried if I stayed pregnant and the baby was still in utero.

@JerricaBenton: you've almost 100% surely had it before, so you should be just fine... But of course talk with your own doc to be sure.

Just to follow up in case anyone searches this topic one day, I spoke to my doctor this AM and they took the exposure fairly seriously. They had me do blood work today and want me to go again in 6 weeks. Tomorrow will be 6 days since being exposed and I don't have any symptoms so fingers crossed that everything is ok (and I know in all likelihood I was exposed during childhood but my mother swears I never had it). Bottom line is that you should call your OB because I guess it can potentially cause problems for a fetus if you have the virus.
ETA: I'm still in my first tri - it sounds like maybe there is less of a risk if you are further along.
