I thought the homeless man was dead before his face was being eaten. But no. That is what blows my mind. And people on my Facebook are joking about it. It isn't a joke. I doubt the man in the hospital fighting for his life is laughing.

It's f-ed up. I read the attacker's mother commenting that the police didn't need to kill the attacker, they could have used a taser. I kind of think deadly force was necessary and appropriate here.
The really insane thing is the drug they think he was on, bath salts, is LEGAL in most states. -

Bath salts will really mess you up. It's sort of like meth, except they make you super, super paranoid and violent. Great combo!
Apparently the guy growled at the cops - I would have peed my pants thinking he was a zombie if I were the cop who happened upon that scene. Yikes!

It made me almost throw up when I read the details and what "parts" of the face this guy ate. And the fact that he was growling like an animal. Scary, scary, scary drugs. If I had a teenager, I would go over this story with them in detail as an example why you just never know what you're getting with drugs and THIS is the kind of thing that can happen with bad drugs. I'm all about scare tactics! lol

Yeah, I just read today that it was from drugs!?! And from bath salts?!? Crazy! Kids nowadays will try anything to get high.

Have they confirmed it was drugs? Everything I've read says they suspect bath salts, but no tox report is back yet.

To second Bree72, all the crazies really are in FL. We moved to Ft Lauderdale, 40 mins north of Miami about 2 years ago for my job and I am shocked every single day by this place. When I saw this story on the news the other morning on NBC Miami which I watch every day, I thought it was terrible, but honestly- so typical of normal occurrences here that I immediately forgot about it until I saw this post. Sad, right?
I am 13 weeks pregnant and my husband and I will be out of this insane place in the next 2 years.

Is this becoming common, I mean eating people? Or is it just publicized more now? Because I don't feel like I really heard about it and now all the sudden there have been quite a few incidences in the news. One was ten minutes from me, an elderly man killed his wife and was eating her when their son came to check on them. So sad and disturbing! If I ever went crazy and ate a person, I'd hope they'd kill me because I couldn't live with that once I regained my sanity.

I didn't even know that "bath salts" were a type of quasi-drug... I thought he ate bath salts that you take bubble baths with (that was before I read some articles).
