I haaate it! I know the audience doesn't change and only my friends can see it, but still?! Why does it exist?? If only my friends can see it, wouldn't they see it on my page?
I can see how it could be useful for articles, but I wish I could disable it from my page!

I use it all the time. I use it to share articles or something to funny to my page, a specfic FB group or a private FB message. Oh, sometimes instead of sharing it on my wall, I'll share it to DH's or a friend's wall.

I hate it too. I think only things that are originally posted to "public" should be able to be shared, nothing else!

@Adira: yeah, that would be a good solution! I get what @bluestriped bee: is saying about articles, i definitely share those frequently, but it just annoys me when someone shares something I've posted lol, especially when we have like 4 mutual friends. I'm like really?

@Applesandbananas: I agree. I only really use share to share articles, but more often than not, I just share from the source (the article's page, not whoever posted it to show up on my newsfeed). I HATE IT when people try to share my pictures! I'm like "If they can see the picture, they could see it when I posted it originally!"

@Applesandbananas: You might have 4 mutual friends, but they have their own friends that might want to see the article, too. I don't quite understand the issue here. I do understand sharing pictures that you post (like of your LO) because my photos are locked down and only seen by my friends. Not sure what the problem is if you are sharing an article or a picture like a meme.

@Applesandbananas: I agree with this so much! My family will share pics of DS (my privacy settings are set to only friends can see pics), so they share a pic to the same people that see it on my wall.

@bluestriped bee: I am all for anyone sharing articles, but if it's something I've posted, like a picture or status, that's what I don't like shared, especially since only their 4 mutual friends will see it anyway and they would've already seen it from my page.

@Applesandbananas: Oh, gotcha. Like a picture of your LO or something. Oh, I understand now. Yeah, my MIL does that, but I don't think she realizes that I only allow my friends to see it so sharing it to her page doesn't allow everyone (her friends, unless they are mutual) to see it. I don't even bother mentioning it to her. It's not worth the conversation. 
I'll let her believe she is sharing it to everyone.

@Applesandbananas: @bluestriped bee: Yeah, if I post an article to my Wall and it's just viewable by my friends, sharing it won't allow anyone new to see it. That's why I think only "public" things should be shared, because there's no point in sharing private things - the target audience can already see it and no one else can.

Yea I don't think most people realize the privacy settings (and judging from the number of photos that show up in my feed of people I do NOT know just because my friend has liked it, they don't utilize them either) so they don't get that they are sharing the photo to no one new!
I agree it's kind of annoying to share a person's picture. When our daughter was born my FIL shared the picture we had posted on FB (which was fine and done with permission) but he did it like 4 times thinking it hadn't worked or something and I thought that was a little strange!

@Adira: Totally agree that there's no point in sharing it but in a way it's nice that they can share it but are none the wiser that they're only sharing it to like 4 people. Then they aren't bugging you about trying to share your post. That way overbearing MIL isn't whining to DIL about her privacy settings, she's just wondering why none of her friends are liking the picture of her granddaughter
