I think you can like things and then hide them. I did that with fertility friend so that people wouldn't know we were using it.

Uh yeah, I hate when you 'like' a page to get a discount then it installs an app that shows your FB friends all of your activity on the website in their newsfeed! It was so embarrasing, I did this with Tobi to buy a dress for my friends bachelorette party and all the clothes have 'sexy' names, so before I realized it all 200+ of my friends saw that I was looking at a "back me up" dress!

Yeah I kinda dislike that too. There should be a way to say like "Don't share this" or something lol. Everything you like is shown to everyone. Sometimes there are things my husband can see of mine that I didn't even know would show up on the news feed!

I feel like there's no way to be truly private on facebook these days, and if you want to hide stuff you have to click around and do it in various places. I think it's intentionally confusing! So I don't post much or like many things for that reason. I can't see myself liking HB on facebook, for the same reasons as @lawbee11.

@lawbee11: oh poor thing!! i made sure to only join a 'secret' bf group so no one can see your post without joining!

hate when i see what others "like"....as in, my cousin who liked a bunch of porn pages and they popped up all over my news feed. thanks dude! love that with my breakfast.

@lawbee11: @Leialou: I actually messaged someone and told them that once. I knew they were pregnant but she hadn't publicly announced, and they were posting all over a mom swap group and it was all over the newsfeed. I felt horrible for them! I figured a few minutes of awkward was worth it - she thanked me profusely and deleted it all in minutes!

The "like" feature really bothers and confuses me. I can't stand that when I like some random picture it shows up in everyone's newsfeed. Having been on FB since the very beginning, I'm really frustrated with how difficult they've made the privacy settings and I hardly post anything on FB anymore.

I never thought I would, but I'm considering deleting my FB account because it's just a bunch of crappy political posts, game updates, and whiners.

I hate the sponsored messages. Even if it's something that I didn't "like" it'll tell me so and so likes this page and shows me their ad. Right now the Doritos thing is driving me crazy.

@pelikila: I'm not positive, but I think things that are hidden from your timeline don't show up in the newsfeed. I know that I've been posting bump photos and as soon as I post them, I hide them from my timeline, and people have told me they don't see them in their newsfeed at all. I believe that if you've hidden things from your timeline (or made it so only you can see it), then it won't appear in your friends' newsfeeds.

@Beebug: I didn't realize about this sharing ability... Now I'm mad at Facebook again. Thanks for bringing it to my attention!

I found this article today. It doesn't fully take care of the problem, but I guess it kinda helps for pages that you like. I'm still irritated with FB!
