Not sure if this is the right board to post this question but has anyone gotten charged a facilities fee for their newborn at the hospital? I did not get a bill for LO #1 and he was born at he same hospital but under different insurance plan. Since LO #2 got her own bill, I now owe a $500 hospital copay for her as well as myself! Has anyone gotten charged for their baby and did you dispute it?

I have not gotten one, but I work with benefits and I know that depending on the plan, the plan will charge a separate hospital charge (whether copay or coinsurance) for the newborn. So, it most likely isn't something you can dispute as it's part of your medical plan and a choice your employer, I'm assuming this is a plan through an employer, made.

Yes, we got charged both times even though they both stayed in my room and never went to the nursery. I was so annoyed the first time! The second time I was sure to take all the diapers and any other newborn stuff from my room since I knew I would be charged. Although a pack of diapers certainly doesn't equal a several hundred dollar room fee!
