My inlaws asked me, today, when we would like them to bring the family crib over for DD2. Ugh, the family crib. Id forgotten about that.
DH's family have a "family crib", that all of the babies born since 1901 have slept in (new mattresses, of course). His grandfather, great aunts/uncles, his father, uncles, aunts, cousins and his cousins' children - and DH & BIL. It sounds lovely, right? Only the thing is a monstrosity. Its hard wicker but has been painted white at some point. It takes up loads of room and isn't portable. Honestly, its so ugly and awkward.
I used it for a few weeks with E and will use it again for the new baby, as much as I really don't want to.
My SIL, on the other hand (DH's brother's wife), refused to use it with her baby. She said it was too ugly and she didn't want anything second hand for her baby. My MIL mentioned today - sadly - that her baby was the only baby who hadn't slept in it. I kind of wish I could be more like my SIL and refuse to use the blasted, hideous thing - but I wont because I know how much it means to my inlaws.
WWYD? Would you be more like me or more like my SIL?
