I've heard a fan in the nursery prevents SIDS, so I definitely want one. My question is, we have an overhead fan on the ceiling... does that count? Do i need to get a separate free-standing one?

Wow never heard of this before! I have a ceiling fan in our nursery but only because it was there already.

I think that counts! she was in our room for awhile but she's had a (stand) fan in her room as white noise and to help circulate air. we live in a main road, so it gets really loud with her window open!

I'd prefer a ceiling fan but we don't have one and ddidn't learn about that til aftershe was born so we just have a free standing one. The only reason I would want a free standing one is for white noise to drown out background noise but her white noise machine takes care of that.

overhead fan is great. we don't have central air, so this helped keep things cool and circulate air. we used a separate white noise machine.

We have an overhead fan that has worked great for the past 21 months!
