Can anyone help me think of a farm name?
We primarily sell poultry (chicken turkey ducks and eggs) but might add pigs in the future. We have also dabbled in goats.
So far we’ve considered
Hens in hog heaven - but idk if that’s too wordy? Also “last name” acres, estate etc but I feel like that doesn’t say what we do and it’s not “catchy”
Open to suggestions and thank you! Btw this is “organic” although we’re not certified so can’t say that but it’s a hippie free range nature sort of vibe

What letter does your last name begin with? It could be something like Hoffman’s Hens. I’d steer away from names that get at the fact that you’re eating the animals even though that’s the whole reason people are coming to your farm—so hens instead of poultry (just so those few who have something against it don’t get a bad taste in their mouths—I don’t btw, just an observation coming from farm country and dealing with that). I definitely like shorter names. Most of the ones around here (and there are many) include a last name—Kelkenberg Farms, Bittner Farms, Burley’s Berries, etc.

@Becky: it starts with an e - lots of farms around here are just last name whatever as well.

I'm following along but am coming up blank - will pop back if anything creative comes to mind.
Most of the farms we frequent are just family names - I think that's okay, unless your name is really common (Smith) or really long/unusual impossible to remember.

I think you should go with a relatively simple name, but then come up with catchy titles like Hens in Hogs Heaven as signs or promotions. Pecking Order is another idea to keep in mind.

Just wanted to say how cool it is that you own a farm! That is like my dream life haha.
Honestly, as a consumer, I don't think your name HAS to allude to what you do. I think having a good website/social media is key. The CSA I belonged to sent out newsletters, has IG/FB and a website that has a lot of information and I really like that!

@graceandjoy: yes we have our egg layers year round - we raise our ducks, meat chickens, and turkeys over the spring summer and fall. It’s pretty manageable like that but we want to start promoting and selling a little more then to just family and friends so we’re getting ready to work on a website etc

Where is the farm? I’d do something meaningful to you or the location but probably not with hen or poultry in the name even though it sounds cute. I think something more general like Red River Farm or Green Valley Farm (those might not make sense for you but just the general theme I like). I also like the last name idea depending on what it is!

@JJ2626: ok lots of things by us are cedar creek farm or cedar creek “blank” so we want to avoid cedar creek but I agree I like names like that. Some farms I like are cedar shade farm, chicken thistle farm so I like that theme too

[Last name] Acres
[Last name] Free-range Farm
The Coop or [Last name]'s Coop

One idea I thought of today was “fancy flocks” if fancy fowl - something like that.

Chiming in just to comment that a lot of the farms around my area are named after local flora/fauna or are otherwise not directly related to what they raise or grow. There's often something great about being specific to what you do for recognition, but then you may feel locked in or like people may not understand the *rest* of what you do, or might do in the future.
Some of our local farms for example are:
Frog Song Organic (I know you're staying away from the organic title but I'm mentioning this for the Frog Song part)
Swallowtail Farms (butterfly variety)
Siembra Farm (spanish for sowing)
The Family Garden (very general)
So - is there anything local to your area you might want to incorporate as a nod to your community, city/state/region that might work well for a farm name?
