I'm not very fashion knowledgeable! I haven't been purse shopping in a long time, but I saw a beautiful purse in bright heather green. Is this something that can be an everyday purse, or is it meant more for a coordinated outfit with matching/complementary colors? My wardrobe is a lot of black, gray, navy, denim.

I'm awful with the traditional rules. I *think* you want to match your shoes and belt (like men are supposed to), but I only try to follow that if it's tones of browns or navy. If I'm otherwise wearing black/gray/neutral colors, then any sort of fun pop of color is good by me. Sometimes the purse is part of my outfit (like the belt/shoes), and other times it's an accessory.

I carried a plum-colored bag all last year. I dont worry for a second if it matches with my clothes. Your everyday bag can be whatever color you want.
Also i only have one everyday bag at a time so i would never be matching it to outfits either way.

@hotchildinthecity: exactly, whatever purse I buy will be my everyday one, I'm way too lazy to be switching them out often!

I personally don't think a purse needs to 'match'. Exception: fancy events (networking, weddings, large parties, etc).
I have a lot of bold purses that definitely do not match my outfits - they're just a fun accessory all on their own!

That can definitely be your everyday bag! I have a purple bag and a green one that I wear with everything. Think of it as a "new" neutral
