Looking for a new high chair for LO2. Only requirements are that it has no fabric on it and that there is no gap between the baby and the tray, i.e. you can push the tray right against the baby (I feel like so much food falls into that gap otherwise!). And not hideous looking would be nice.

I love my Tripp Trapp so much! But we don't use a tray, just push baby right up to the kitchen table.

The oxo tot has held up incredibly well for both kids and is super easy to clean

I like our oxo tot a lot. We removed the bottom cushion because it was a pita to clean and its soooo much better.

We have the boon flair with a gray chair pad, and while I like the way it looks, I don't think I would buy it new (we got it for about $35 on a local mommy group). I will say it's super easy to clean, so that's good. It has several removable trays and you can buy different chair pads and it's all dishwasher safe (I just wipe them down, though).
I'm currently looking at a Bloom Urban Nano or something, because it folds (just listed on the mommy group).

I love the Tripp Trapp, each of my LOs has one. We never had the tray attachment, just push the chair right up to the table. They are easy to clean and I think they look good in our modern apartment.
ETA: and they last forever, my 5 yo is still using his and will be for a looong time.

Another vote for the Oxo Tot. I love that I can hose it off (and have).

Zero gap between tray and baby
It is sort of comically small but it's great for our space. Blends in nicely, modern, tucks under our table and folds really flat for storage. Also it's one piece of plastic for super easy cleanings. There are straps but I don't use them ever. The tray keeps baby locked in place (the European model doesn't have straps). I bought mine open box on Amazon and once you figure out how to lock it and fold it, it is amazing. I think it's totally underrated. -
We love our Tripp Trapp. We never used a tray with it though.

I have three Tripp Trapps because I love them so much.
I never bothered with the tray, just pushed them to the table.
DD1 still uses hers at almost 3.5. -

We have the Tripp Trapp because they work great for them still as they get older. But I've used the OXO Tot and its nice too!

@Charm54: @whiskers: @LBee: @Smurfette: so a lot of the reviews for the oxo tot sprout mentioned a mold issue with the tray--water gets inside the tray and it's impossible to get in there to dry it. have you had this issue?
@oliviaoblivia: @lamariniere: @Truth Bombs: did you use the infant insert? LO is only 7 months and is petite, so I don't know if she'd fit with just the straps...but then the insert is fabric which would be a pain to clean.
@Littlebit7: so I actually really like this one but it seems so pricy for just a high chair. Open box is a good idea though!!
@Anagram: is the bloom nano cheaper than the fresco? I couldn't believe the price on that one!

@hilsy85: I never noticed that issue but we haven't used in a year and half. She stopped using it before she was 2.

@hilsy85: I've never experienced this. We mostly just wipe it down with a wet rag so I'm not sure how it would get mold in it? I don't run the tray through the dishwasher and if we do wash it in the sink we try it standing up on it's side.

@hilsy85: we used the baby set for a couple months but not with the fabric seat cover.

@hilsy85: we used it with the baby set, but ours didn't come with straps and I didn't think we needed them. The fabric insert is totally separate, we never bought that either. We used the set-up like in the picture from 6 months to about 22 months. Now, we use it without the baby set.

@LBee: I guess because water gets in the side cracks when you are washing it, and there is no way for it to drain out.

@lamariniere: I think the european version does not come with straps but the american version does. that looks pretty good though---and you felt like it pushed up snug to the table? trying to avoid food being pushed off the sides as much as possible!

As far as food being pushed around, we always put things on a plate (as opposed to directly on the table or some sort of food mat) and I don't recall having a ton of issues with food getting all over the place or the floor other than when LO would willfully drop something. We definitely used food catcher bibs in the early days though!

We have TWO Oxo tots. LO1 uses it as a regular chair at the table and LO2 still uses it as a high chair. Love the look and clean-up is easy.
I haven't taken the tray apart to see if there is any mold, but there is nothing to make me suspect there is. (And I don't plan to go looking for a problem
)

@hilsy85: it's not totally right up against baby's belly but with the bjorn catch all bib thing it was pretty good.
DD2 doesn't use the baby set anymore, is as close as possible to the table, and still managed to get food every where. Our table is waaay bigger than any high chair tray would be so I've decided its just her. DD1 was a tidier eater at this age. -
@oliviaoblivia: I guess I'm thikning that a high chair try extends to the side of the baby, like around their body and not just i front. But if I get a splat mat then even if it gets on the floor it's fine.

We have the Nuna Zaaz and really, really love it. I'd recommend it for sure.

@hilsy85: I use the Tripp Trapp with infant insert and tray. There can be a gap but using one of those plastic bibs works great. My sisters 6 year old still uses his. I just got one that would match our dining furniture and it looks so nice.
