Little Women was my absolute favorite, still is one that I very much enjoy. I also read Boxcar Children, Sweet Valley, Nancy Drew. DH read Hank the Cow Dog and is excited to read them to our LO when she's older.

Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH -- used to love that book! I was big into BSC, Sweet Valley Twins, Sleepover Friends and most other girly series of that time period.

Mrs basil e frankweiler, the Anne of green gables and avonlea books...I had sooo many books!

the babysitters club! loved those books...but when i think about it now, there is NO WAY in heck i'd let an 8th grader babysit my kid. much less mallory or jesse who were ELEVEN. crazy!

@matador84: I read The Westing Game a few weeks ago when I was sick! And I used to love From the Mixed Up Files... as well!
Thought of another good one: Sideways Stories from Wayside School and all the sequels. I love kids books.

@matador84: awesome! i love the first 2 movies, too...i walked down the aisle to the theme from the first movie and i have the soundtrack, too. i play it during writing workshop in my classroom as our quiet thinking music!

Does anyone remember the book "Tales of a fourth Grade Nothing"? That was my all time favorite book. I used to read that literally every night before bed for months.

K, here goes - Wrinkle in Time, The Dark is Rising series, Anne of Green Gables, Babysitters club, Boxcar Children, Narnia, Island of the Blue Dolphins, Little House on the Prairie series, The Blue Castle, Ramona Quimby, Encyclopedia Brown, Little Princess, Secret Garden, The Phantom Tollbooth, The Giver, Caps for sale, Through the looking glass (but, oddly enough, not Alice in Wonderland), The Borrowers, How to Eat Fried Worms, Dear Mr. Henshaw, Julie of the Wolves & whatever the sequel was, The Railway Children, anything by Tamora Pierce but especially The Song of the Lioness series, Dragonriders of Penn.....and, I can't remember, but the one where the mom abandons four kids in a car and the oldest takes them to their grandma in Chesapeake Bay? Arrrgh....
ETA: Got it - Homecoming by Cynthia Voight. actually I liked a lot of her books....

Ella Enchanted was my absolute favorite. I still think it's one of the most perfectly written books I've ever read! I also devoured Nancy Drew, Redwall, and the Dear America series.
