English major and literature nerd here. Just for fun, what are your favorite names based on books you've read or authors you like?
We strongly considered Holden for our first because we loved the name and my husband was a catcher in the rye fan, but ultimately decided against it for a few reasons.
I also know a Cormac - after Cormac McCarthy.

Jane Austen is my all time favorite. Emma was my favorite girl name for years. It's my niece's name though so I won't get to use it!

Gone with the Wind is one of my favorite books, and I'd love to name a little boy Rhett. However, my husband thinks it's too closely tied to the book, and it doesn't flow well with our last name.
I really like the name Lyra from The Golden Compass.
There's Catriona from Robert Louis Stevenson's sequel to Kidnapped, although I think I might like Catherine / Katherine more.
I'm a Janeite, so practically any name related to Jane Austen.
I love Roman history and literature, so if it wasn't for my husband, we might have a Seneca or Cato.

I like the name Harper for a girl, after Harper Lee who wrote To Kill a Mockingbird. It doesn't go with our last name though.
I also like Bennett for a boy, after Elizabeth Bennett, my favorite heroine. But my husband vetoed it.

Quentin is a favorite of mine, although I know Faulkner is not everyone's jam.
I almost had my husband convinced on Phineas (A Separate Peace) but we just couldn't agree in the end.
Both my kids have names related to literature, though - Alice (in Wonderland) and Blake (William Blake).

@youboots: I totally added Tennyson to my running list recently. Love it.
Also a huge fun of Tess, Harper and Scout. Rhett and Willa. So many fun ones!
My husband loves the name Huck (and I do too), but I can only imagine the teasing and rhyming with F***. Huck and Hayes (LO1's name) are pretty cute together though. Also why I love Harper.

@Mrs Green Grass: I do have a Bennett, but I never realized that we named him after Elizabeth Bennett (LOVE THAT BOOK!). But, now when people ask that is where I will tell them his name is from!
@krispi: Tell your husband we get compliments on the name Bennett all the time! And, he can go by Ben when he gets older!!!

Atticus is my very favorite. It turns out, though, that my daughter's name is also Shakespeaean, which is awesome (Imogen). Another favorite boy name, Edmund, is also in Shakespeare.

Ok so Im another literary lover here. I actually purposely named my kids with literary stories in mind. My son is Drake which is cheating a little but since Drake is an old English form of the word dragon and dragons comes from stories it works for me...I also love dragons so its double fold here. My daughter is Juliet Rosalie, two literary names from books I love. Im pregnant with my last and want to stay close to the trend. For a boy we are settled on Rex I think which is King in old Latin and I think works with the dragon idea of legends and fairy tales. My husband wouldnt go for my more overt choices of Troy or Rhett. For a girl Im struggling though and the best one I can come with that I like is Vivienne. I love Guinevere, Ophelia, Scarlett, and Cordelia as well but DH doesnt. Would love suggestions from one book lover to another.

Always loved Atticus, can never convince my husband though. And I agree with a couple others, Anne (Anne of Green Gables)...that name is actually on our girl list!
Amy from Little Women, Charlotte (Charlie for a boy or short for girl) for Charlotte Bronte of course, and Oliver from Oliver Twist are some other faves.

For a girl, maybe Viola? I also like Tess or Tessa for your sib set. Or Rosaline?

Viola is my bff's name. Im not a huge fan of the name Tess or the book truthfully lol Rosaline is pretty but Juliet's middle name is Rosalie so kinda too similar I think

@Mrs. Chocolate: Hero (from Much Ado About Nothing, my favorite Shakespeare) might go with your naming themes. Also Beatrice (from the same play) is another thought.

Other ideas... Clarissa, Annabel, Josephine (Jo), Zadie, Laila, Darcy, Amelia, Lyra.

I just cant find a name to top it because its like the most perfect name for my daughter. I feel like any sisters name will never compare sadly which is the struggle
I like Josephine but DH was forced to watch Dawsons Creek a lot with an old ex so he cant get past Joey Potter lol
I love Annabel and Amelia too but worry about popularity
@twodoghouse: Thanks. My DH actually suggested it trying to work with my naming preferences and literary love and it grew on me. He has loved it for a while. It was our boy name til Juliet turned out to be a girl so its our name for this one if its a boy
I love love love Bianca. Love it. If DH didnt hate it was like a sickening passion (dont ask me why he hates the name) it would be it. Its the only name I feel can compare to Juliet for some reason and I would LOVE a Bianca but DH really hates this one for some reason and will not budge because he is mean
Helena will clash with our last name in an awful sadly as its a lovely name
I might bring up Beatrice to DH though. Its growing on me.
@MamaBehr: Viola is my bff's name. I also have a close friend and co-worker of my Dh with a Reagan the same age as Juliet so we see them a lot.

DH and I are thinking about possibly naming the next LO after an author.
I like Zora a lot, but DH is not into it If we have a boy we are leaning towards Langston. One of my favorite authors is Octavia Butler, but I don't like her first name--her middle name is Estelle, we like that one, too.
