Tie between Mrs. Doubtfire and Dead Poet's Society. Hook was one of my favorite movies as a kid too, and as soon as J started walking I'd cheer him on with "Run home Jack!"
He was the best

Hook and Aladdin. I remember watching Mork and Mindy on Nick at Night as a kid, too!

Dead Poet's. One of my favorite movies in general. But Hook and Good Will Hunting are close behind.

I love Mrs. Doubtfire, Bicentennial Man, and Jumanji. He always has a special place in my heart for Ferngully as well.

There are so many, but Mrs. Doubtfire is def #1.
He was such a huge part of my childhood. A huge part of my acclimation to American culture. Celebrity deaths don't usually hit me. But this one def did. Especially with his passing on my bday.

So hard to choose! I would have to say Hook though - that movie has always been a favorite of mine!

I know it was a weird one, but I haven't seen it mentioned yet. Anyone watch Fisher King??

@Mrs. Bee: those are my exact faves too, I agree he was an incredible dramtic actor.

Mrs. Doubtfire or Aladdin. Patch Adam's is up there, makes me sad to think we lost such an amazing actor.
Edit: and Jack I loved that one too.

@Mrs. Jump Rope: One Hour Photo was so unexpected! I loved it too. But my favorite is GWH. He was so honest and raw (as a therapist) and yet still so kind and unselfish.

Aladdin.. love Genie.
I also liked One Hour Photo, as creeeeepy as that was. I actually wrote a paper trying to diagnose Sy in that film for an Abnormal Psych class in college.

@dreamocracy: That is cool.
So, I saw on FB someone post this joke with a photo of Robin Williams, although, if Robin Williams ever used it (which I don't think he did), I believe this originally quotes Alan Moore. Either way, I think it describes Williams very well, and it actually brought a tear to my eye.
Heard joke once: Man goes to doctor. Says he's depressed. Says life seems harsh and cruel. Says he feels all alone in a threatening world where what lies ahead is vague and uncertain. Doctor says, "Treatment is simple. Great clown Pagliacci is in town tonight. Go and see him. That should pick you up." Man bursts into tears. Says, "But doctor...I am Pagliacci.”

@.twist.: I have heard that joke too So sad. Many comedians suffer from depression and use comedy to cope

I adored his films but will always love him in Mork and Mindy best. Rest in peace, Robin Williams - thank you for bringing so much joy to my life

@.twist.: @dreamocracy: they were replaying an old Robin Williams interview on NPR today where they talk about comedians and depression... basically the 'sad clown'.

ETA: to answer the question, lots of them! Aladdin, Jumanji, Hook, Mrs. Doubtfire, One Hour Photo (only saw that once - need to rewatch it!) and one that I don't think has been mentioned but I really liked him in was Night at the Museum. He already taped the 3rd one

Reviving this thread because I just remembered that Robin Williams was HYSTERICAL in the movie Nine Months!! loved that movie!
And here is a fun fact about Good Will Hunting that I remember seeing on Oprah years ago. The scene in the movie where Robin Williams's character tells Matt Damon's character about how his wife use to fart so much it would wake herself up and Matt Damon's character started really laughing.....this was not in the script of the movie! The cameras were rolling, they were filming a scene and Robin just threw that in there and it was kept it in the movie! That was just Matt laughing at Robin's ridiculous story.

@californiadreams: That's a great story. He also did that throughout Aladdin. They had a script for Robin, and he didn't follow it! He improvised a LOT of the Genie's character. Natural Genius.

@.twist.: I've seen that quote posted a lot too, and it really resonates. So sad.
We watched The World According to Garp last night and I felt like it was really fitting with how it ends. But of course I was bawling. Need to watch one of his comedies tonight!
