We've been in a Stride Rite rut since, ummm, birth... During the summer, DS (3) has been wearing Keens and Natives, but it's time for sneakers. Any suggestions for good quality sneakers with arch support that are cute?

I like New Balance DD has gone through 2 pairs. She was gifted Nikes now but next time I need to buy sneakers I'm going back to New Balance! DH also only wears New Balance too!

Every day shoes are New Balances.
"Nicer" shoes are either velcro Keds or Superga.

I’m a big fan of Vans or Adidas, but I think it really depends on your style. We have a pair of classic Stan Smiths that I’m eagerly waiting for my younger son to grow into after his big brother grew out of them. Vans are really cute but I find they definitely show their wear.

We’re a Nike family. Specifically the retro Jordans that get re-released. They hold up well.

@crazydoglady: I’m thinking about getting Natives, but first wanted to know why you thought it was time to move on to sneakers?
The reason for the Natives: LO is going to start taking private swim classes 3 days a week immediately after school. His swim instructor will likely pick him up two of those days and walk him to the community pool. In an effort to save time I figured after his afternoon nap I would have his teachers change him into swim trunks and Natives.

We've been Nike fans and now my 4 year old won't wear anything but gray "swoosh" shoes, as he refers to him. He has one pair of sandals and one pair of nicer shoes. I know I have friends who think I am crazy for only having 3 pairs of shoes for him! Nikes have held up well but I do think they run small.

I have 2 girls but we LOVE New Balance. I've always gotten gender neutral colors anyway and they are just great fit, comfort, durability too. DD1 has a pair of Nikes that she was gifted and I still prefer NB.

We put our kiddos in Nike. I seem to snag good ones on sale from Zappos and they hold up pretty well. My kids are rough on shoes.

We LOVE the Plae shoes. They've lasted the entire school year and still look great. My boys have been known to wear holes into their shoes and these have totally held up. worth it!

Girl mom here but we enjoy Keen's sneakers. I'm not sure if you've tried those or just the sandals. They hold up amazingly, including machine washing and drying. They sustain multiple washings begter than Keen sandals (which looked worn faster). We're on our second pair in the same color and I fully intend on purchasing Keen when she grows out!
@hellobeeboston: I very well may choose to cheat on Keen and try Plae, simply because they are cuter but appear similar quality
