I'm going to look at older posts too but starting to work on my Christmas list for LO. I know some of the obvious ones like play kitchen, blocks, etc but curious what new or unique toys your two year old liked or grew into liking!

Food & pretend play is huge for my 27m right now. She is into cutting, slicing foods, cooking, dress up. She is also finally loving her stuffed animals.
I don't know the weather where you are at but outdoor play is huge right now. She is playing with her water table more this year than last.
Scooping things.

At Christmas time LO will be 20 months. I really want to get him a set or two of Duplo blocks, a baby doll (to prep for #2), an art easel (if we had more space) and maybe some play doh!

@Mamaof2: OMG! He would love that.
@locavore_mama: Iowa, so unpredictable we have a water table but I hadn't thought about starting dress up
@Weagle: yes! Magnadoodle yay!
@mediagirl: I haven't tried art stuff since last fall, good reminder!
@cmomma17: LO is 20m now and just figured out duplos (loves mega blocks still). I need to find a baby doll too!

@scg00387: oh and how can I forget. Magnatiles. Oh boy. She got these for her 2nd birthday. She just started (at 26 months) building things with them. They are sooooo expensive but they are such an amazing toy!!!

@mediagirl: Oh wow those are expensive! Dang!
My mom is looking for a good gift idea for my LO's 2nd birthday but I think that is a little out of her budget
I just got her a doll and she alredy has a water table, wagon and play kitchen/food. I'm not sure what else she really needs.

@sunny: other magnet toys have caught her eye recently, as well. Our local kids museum had these out and she had a ball playing with them - http://www.amazon.com/dp/B001FXLT1U/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=JSLEY3KBUZ7&coliid=I3FMOEVP6F9Q4P
Do you have alphabet or letter magnets for your fridge? M is a huge fan of those right now.

I second the stacking pegs. My LO (23 months) LOVES them. Also, Melissa and Doug makes sound puzzles - he will sit there and do them over and over, especially the emergency vehicles one.

Hands down the Maxi Micro Scooter! My son has just the normal micro scooter since the maxi wasn't out when we bought his, but he looooooves that thing. It says from age 5-12, but I know 2 year olds who have it, and it's up to 120lbs!
