@snarkybiochemist: you have so many promising symptoms!

    @mrskansas: I suppose

Negatives still but it's a little early. If I do have a tiny baby in there I might have coughed it loose! I've been so so sick.

@snarkybiochemist: Thanks I'm doing ok. I feel like emotionally I'm processing it all. Our doctor thinks the most likely scenario is that it was a genetically healthy embryo that had its supply of nutrients cut off by a clot from the SCH. The heart beat for a full month after it lost its connection to my nutrients, using the nutrients in the yolk sac, but there's not enough there to grow or thrive, and meanwhile my body was spending a ton of energy building the placenta but the nutrients couldn't get across. Bleeding during pregnancy is really common, and I think for us it just happened in exactly the wrong place at the wrong time. I feel like it's sort of a metaphor for life - you can do everything right, but in the end a lot of things come down to luck. And obviously it could be much worse. This is why I think compassion is so important. I hope that this experience reminds me to really enjoy the good moments when they finally come, as nothing is guaranteed and I know there are much worse heartaches that parenthood can and often does bring.

I think it's a little bit of a silver lining that it takes time to recover after a D&E, because right now the thought of being pregnant again just brings up dread. I could handle another loss or string of BFNs - we really do want kids and understand that comes with a price - but I would hate to have to relive this particular loss. There are no known risk factors for the type of SCH I had, and thus nothing to do to feel like I'm making it less likely.

@junebugsmama: how many DPO are you now?

@periwinklebee: Good I am glad you are able to process things and handle it emotionally. It sounds like your doctor was able to give you reassuring information. How long is the wait after a D&E?

    @periwinklebee: hugs
Are you able to take some time off work after the surgery?

  8. periwinklebee

    grapefruit / 4466 posts

@snarkybiochemist: I think it just depends on the person. The lining takes some time to recover since it gets scraped off - usually at least a full cycle - and most people won't ovulate in the first cycle afterwards, which can be long, because HCG is too high. We will just play it by ear and hopefully be back in the TTC game by April or May.

@mrskansas: Thanks I guess one good thing is it's on a Friday and President's day weekend is afterwards.

@periwinklebee: I hope your recovery goes smoothly and you are able to start this process again when you feel ready.

@periwinklebee: That's nice to have some extra time. I had three days off after my surgery & it was definitely needed to recover.

@periwinklebee: That does seem like a particularly discouraging and sad kind of miscarriage. All those details make it all the more real : ( You seem to be a very positive person and I know your take home baby is coming Same with some other members of our board.

@mrskansas: 12 days i think. But I am using WONDFOs.

@junebugsmama: you could definitely just be a late implanter (is that a word?).
I got a positive on a Wednesday at 13 DPO with my daughter and I'm planning on testing this time on Wed at 13 DPO so hopefully it's good luck!

Bright red spotting, but not enough to call it my period. If I am going to get my period I would like it to happen, this spotting nonsense is dreadful

@mrskansas: Totally worth getting excited about. I was really excited for my snow day last week. We all need breaks from work sometimes

@snarkybiochemist: Yes for sure. We have unlimited PTO but I hesitate to use it unless I have a good reason.

@mrskansas: I get a pretty decent amount and a lot of leeway about when I take it and how much notice I give and I still try to avoid taking too much

@periwinklebee: @mrskansas: oh I am actually 13dpo probably. Just looked again. Don't have a great feeling but don't feel totally out of the game yet either. I know this is just the most obvious thing in the world to say but I just want to be pregnant so badly!

I've never had any PMS symptoms in the 10ish years I've had my period (don't hate me) so I'm really curious about other's experiences. Can we do a little poll?

-How many days before AF do you see symptoms?
    -What are they?
-Do you get variations month to month or are they consistent?

  31. mrsbubbletea

    nectarine / 2821 posts

Soooo... should I buy a different type of test? And if so should I use it tonight or tomorrow?

  32. mrsbubbletea

    nectarine / 2821 posts

@mrskansas: I don't know that I tend to get pms symptoms, for me when I had period related symptoms it was just horrible cramps and that didn't start until the same time as my period started. Usually a few hours after actually.

  33. mrskansas

    nectarine / 2813 posts

@junebugsmama: I'd get a cheap one & use it with FMU. Even with the cheapie tests it should be a clear positive at 14 DPO

  34. mrsbubbletea

@mrskansas: ok I drop my son off in 30 min at his school and there is dollar store right by there!

  35. snarkybiochemist

    nectarine / 2180 posts

@mrskansas: generally I get cramps nausea and other digestive issues the day or two before my period I also tend to be more emotional and tend to really want carbs and melted cheese

  36. azjax

    kiwi / 578 posts

@mrskansas: typically, I get horrible cramps 1-2 days before with some bloating and a pimple or two shows up around the same time. On a more variable basis, I get full/sore boobs and more emotional.

  37. periwinklebee

    grapefruit / 4466 posts

@mrskansas: Mine are variable but usually I get some subset of them - sore boobs, acne, mild motion sickness, super hungry, really sensitive smell. I also spot some months.

  38. mrskansas

    nectarine / 2813 posts

I started feeling bad at work today and I officially have body aches, chills and a 100 degree fever. I can't believe I'm sick again!
Hopefully this doesn't hurt anything since I'm only 4/5 dpo

  39. mrsbubbletea

    nectarine / 2821 posts

@mrskansas: crap! I think maybe you might want to take Tylenol for the fever. I know it's super low grade but fevers aren't great for a potential baby. Sorry you are feeling so poorly, I am SO over this cold I've been having!

  40. mrskansas

    nectarine / 2813 posts

@junebugsmama: I took Tylenol and got it down to 98.6! Whew. I feel like I've been sick for the past two months. Luckily my LO hasn't been sick nearly as much!
