I had fibroids and an ovarian cyst and my doctor wasnt too concerned. I did get an ultrasound at one point to ensure that it didnt grow during the pregnancy. I am sure they will monitor it throughout your pregnancy to make sure everything is okay.

I have one just on the edge of my uterus...It's called a "pedunculated" one or something? That is supposed to mean that it can twist and cause pain. They told me it wouldn't affect my pregnancy, but that it may cause me some pain as it gets less and less room in there with the baby growing. But I haven't had any issues at all.

Yes, I do have fibroids. I have 5 of them, although only one is in my uterus. Most are located outside of my uterus or embedded in the lining. I didn't know about them until last year because I had never had any symptoms suggesting I had them. One of my fibroids is over 10 cms, which is pretty crazy to me especially since people keep telling me that I don't look all that pregnant yet. I've read up a lot on trying to find ways to reduce them or control their growth (most information I've found suggests dietary changes). So far, I am only 19 weeks, but they have not grown very much, if at all. They've remained steady, which I'm thankful for. They haven't negatively affected my pregnancy yet. We'll see if things change as my pregnancy moves forward. I'd be happy to answer more questions.

I had a 2.5 cm intramuscular fibroid near my cervix going into pregnancy. It grew to about 5 cm by 20 weeks. My OB kept an eye on it, but it never grew any further. I read that they tend to grow the first half of pregnancy and stay the same or shrink in the second half - something about the hormones. I think it's primarily estrogen that makes them grow.

The only concern with mine was that it was so near my cervix. Depending on it's size and the baby's position, it could have prevented my kids from descending into the birth canal properly. But there were absolutely no problems on d-day.
