I have been debating for years on getting an e-reader. Amazon had a deal on Kindles today so DH bought me one as a Christmas gift. I'm pretty excited, but a little nervous...I'm hoping I like it as much as I do paper books!

Yay! Take it from a big reader, you won't miss the paper! I had A Kindle keyboard and now I have a Kindle Paperwhite and I love it!!
Eta: you did get a e-ink device, right?

@pui: @Mrs. Champagne: @sslm: The only thing I'm worried about is it was SO easy to get the latest and greatest books from the library, for free. I looked at our libraries options and there are a couple of good ones, but not nearly as much. I guess I will need to be asking for e-books for gifts!

@Bao: You can also lend certain books using the Kindle....if you want I will send you my list of lendable books and you can tell me if theres anything you want to read.
If you're amazon prime they have certain free books you can read per month too.

Another old school Kindle! I have a bunch of illegally downloaded ebooks that have to be manually added to your Kindle if you're interested. I can email them!

@Bao: my library offers lots of Kindle books! They are in a totally separate section of the website though. Maybe your library has them somewhere else?

I have the basic kindle too (was my mother's day present this year) and I love it!! I try to find the free books through the amazon kindle website.

Yay! I have one of the original basic Kindle's. I love it! It's so easy to read in places where you're in direct sunlight like...the beach!

Woooo! I have an old school Kindle and love it. My library doesn't have every book I'd want to read (and some books have crazy long waiting lists) so I still check out regular books too, but I do try for a Kindle version first. A hint - if your library book is about to expire but you're not finished yet, you can turn off the Kindle wireless and it can't self-destruct. Sneaky but effective!

I have a Kindle too and LOVE it.
@Bao - not sure if your library's site has this, but mine has a section on the ebook home page for "Recently Returned". This is where I find almost ALL the books I borrow, for some reason newer good books show up there as available whereas if you did a search for them you'd have to get put on the waiting list.
Also - I just add like 10 books to my "hold" list so that I'm on the waiting list, and eventually they start being available, I always make sure to have a ton on my list, because otherwise I get tempted to buy tons of books on Amazon.

I have the cheapest Kindle and Love it! I thought I would miss paperbacks but don't at all! so much easier to read in bed with my Kindle and not worrying about the pages!

I just bought DH a new Kindle Paperwhite for xmas and I'm soooo excited to give it to him. I have an iPad that I've read one or two books on, but the glare is awful so I don't think I'd read another one on it.

@lavender: Send me your email on my wall and I can send you a list! The Kindle basically works like a flashdrive - you can drag/drop files to a "download" folder on it!
