Fireworks & BFPs!! July 2014 POAS

    @Starfish: 3 times a day?!

  2. nicole112

    apricot / 278 posts

@angelachase: that is hysterical! My DH has done that a few times.

@mrsbrewer: I did use OPK's and DH's urologist told us not to use them because they add more stress to the ttc process. So this cycle I have not used them at all...and I feel a little less crazy! So that's a plus!

  3. travellingbee

    hostess / papaya / 10219 posts

I have used opks but not 3x a day! Just to confirm ovulation while charting. I didn't find it stressful at all- more exciting that I could see my body was doing what it was supposed to. But everyone is different...

This is my first POAS thread! My husband and I just had our first cycle of trying and sadly AF showed up yesterday. I've been in denial about it all day, but I realize it was very wishful thinking to get pregnant after only 1 cycle after being on the BCP for 11 years! Well, here goes...

    Cycle day: 2

    Cycle #: 2

Ovulation & POAS dates: Ovulation: Sometime between 7/6 and 7/10 (My first cycle off BC was 33 days long… who knows about this one!); POAS date will depend on when I show signs of ovulation… 7/20 through 7/25.

    Baby #: 1

Your game plan this month: Track CM (I was inconsistent last month with this) and temp (just bought a basal thermometer today!)

    Chart link: No link.

I am using the advanced digital OPKs this cycle. I didn't use them for the first 2 because I thought it would make me feel obsessive, but I've actually found it's made me less so. It's made me feel more calm, like confirmation that my body is doing what it's supposed to do and when.

  8. MrsKRB

@angelachase: I feel the same way Hopefully feeling more relaxed will help you get your bfp this cycle

    Hey girls!

Just checking back in. Sure enough, O didn't show up this weekend like it was supposed to. And my ear also didn't clear up so now as I'm finishing up the steroids, I'm also on antibiotics. Blech.

I'm thinking it's a good think O didn't show because I have not exactly been feeling like DTD. We have kept up an every 3 day routine, but I don't think I could have done every day had the smiley face shown up.

So now I'm completely addicted to OPKs since I have no idea when it'll happen.

  11. Starfish

    olive / 60 posts

@MRSBREWER - haha....yes for me I had to test 3 times a day towards the end of using OPk's. Which is part of the reason why I stopped.

I say that because sometimes I'd get a positive in the AM, next cycle it was in the afternoon, next cycle it wan not until the evening. So in order to catch it I had to test 3 times a day! So annoying!!! I hated it! I pee so often already so holding it for even 2 hours was a struggle!

I'll be a cheerleader this month.

My new doc just put me on a 10 day course of Provera, and I have and ultrasound and bloodwork this month.

    Good luck to everyone

Yay! I had a temp shift this AM so now I'm in the TWW. I'm really glad I used OPKs because I think our timing was much better this time: O-4, O-2, O-1, and O. Feeling optimistic!

  17. angelachase

    apricot / 306 posts

@MaryM: Bummer that O didn't happen on time but I feel ya on the ED struggles! It's tiring!!

  19. meredithNYC

@MaryM: So do you think it's just delayed because of all the health issues? If so, here's hoping you feel better soon and, better yet, feel like "trying"

    @angelachase: Good luck to you!

I just used Conceive Plus for the first time last night. It's early in my cycle (day 7), but my OPK gave me a peak reading so I thought I would be on the safe side, even though I think the reading is probably off. Well, on second thought, I did have some ovulation pains yesterday, so maybe? Anyway, all went well! It did sting a little initially, but that subsided. I am hoping it does the trick.

Another first time POAS thread post (or any Hellobee post) here!

    Cycle day: 19

    Cycle #:1

Ovulation & POAS dates: O = June 18th or 19th, POAS = trying to hold out as long as I can, hopefully until July 3rd, but realistically will probably test on the 1st.

    Baby #:1

Your game plan this month: Temping, had a small dip today (6 or 7 DPO) which prompted me to roll call. Trying not to get too hopeful about it, it was only .4 degrees, but lower than I have been in the LP before - at my coverline.

Chart link: On paper only at this point.

    @meredithNYC: The Conceive + stung?

  25. meredithNYC

    pomegranate / 3314 posts

@KelLeeLeee: Yeah, a little bit. I didn't worry too much because it went away so quickly. Tried googling to see if it's a common issue, but couldn't find anything.

ETA: There was a little bit of info, actually, but mostly people saying it was a one time thing. I'm using it again tonight so I'll see if it's still a problem.

So DH and I were talking this morning about timing and I think we agreed to try in July rather than wait until August for various logistical reasons. So depending in how long this cycle is, I might POAS by the end of July! For now, I'll remain a cheerleader but excited/terrified to get this show on the road...

Besides using OPK's what is your most obvious sign of ovulation?

  34. travellingbee

    hostess / papaya / 10219 posts

@meredithNYC: @KelLeeLeee: @MrsBrewer: thanks! One of the things that was holding us back from moving it up to July was that I had some dental work to get done. I wanted to get that all done before we started TTC again. But there was a cancellation and I was able to move all of that up to next week! Now I'm just hoping my cycle gets back to normal next month.. I am currently having ovulation symptoms, at cd 11, EWCM and HSO cervical position, but the OPK's that I am using (digital) are negative... if I have a temperature shift, would you still assume that I ovulated even if all of my OPK's came back negative?

  35. meredithNYC

    pomegranate / 3314 posts

@travellingbee: I don't chart, so I'm not entirely sure. But, I will say that my digital opks have been driving me insane lately. I got a peak reading on cd 6, so I left the test alone and then took it just for the hell of it today and got a high reading. So basically I think it's not to be trusted. Maybe yours is similarly shady?

  36. MrsKRB

    nectarine / 2465 posts

@MrsBrewer: CM and a high/soft/open cervix.. after a few cycles I have also learned I get somewhat pms-y around ovulation, I will be cranky and hungry, and the day of I get pinchy cramps.

@travellingbee: What brand are you using? You could be gearing up to ovulate but haven't gotten there yet. My guess is with a hso cervix you will get a positive tonight or tomorrow morning. ETA: yes, if you have a temp shift tomorrow, I would say you ovulated and missed your surge.

  37. travellingbee

    hostess / papaya / 10219 posts

@meredithNYC: maybe so. I probably just need to be patient and wait and see what happens this cycle! Everything was so simple the first time we were TTC. I had EWCM, took OPKs and they were positive. A perfect chart with a great temperature rise... And a BFP at 10DPO. LOL. Seems a little more complicated this time with my hormones all over the place post weaning. And of course I am two years older.

  38. MrsBrewer

    coconut / 8854 posts

@KelLeeLeee: You know, I should start checking my cervical position! I haven't done that in a few months.

  39. travellingbee

    hostess / papaya / 10219 posts

@KelLeeLeee: Clear Blue smiley faces But when I take them out of the holder, there is barely a second line at all.
The last time I used them, two years ago, they progressively got darker until I ovulated.. But clearly things are different with my body this time so who knows!

    hostess / papaya / 10219 posts

@KelLeeLeee: I think I also get PMSy- even a bit weepy.
