This will be my first time away from LO for a substantial amount of time. SO and I are going to a christmas party and MIL will be babysitting. He may go to sleep before we even leave but for some reason I'm so anxious!! What if she has to do bedtime? What if he neeeeeeds me??????
Please reassure me so I can enjoy my first night out in 6 months

Everything will be fine! Trust me I felt the same way when we first left him. We came back in an hour because I was so anxious and he was prefect fine. Then I was kind of wishing we stayed out just a little bit longer.

Oh my gosh, please enjoy!!!! Ask your MIL to text you or call if there are any issues, and send "all is well!" updates once an hour so you can relax and enjoy!

Babies need their mommies in the sense they need to know they are there and they are loved and that mom will provide for their needs. But that's on a big picture. Moment to moment it's more like "I need a pacifier" or "I need a diaper." Grandmas can do those needs!

@knittylady: Glad you had fun! We actually went out 2 nights in a row this weekend. And whenever I feel the guilt I also remind myself how much she's enjoying spending time with all of her grandparents and vice versa.

Glad it worked out! I had to leave LO at 6 and 8 weeks for two weddings and I was a nervous wreck. Both times worked out fine and I wish I was able to enjoy myself more. I have to remember LO is in capable hands with the grandmas. I still worry now at 4 months when I have to leave LO even with DH, but usually everything works out just fine. Sometimes she doesn't go to sleep like she would with me but it's nice to get out of house once in awhile too.
