DH and I are planning our first overnight away from DD 2 at the end of November. Nothing fancy, just one night across the border to do some Christmas shopping and have a nice dinner out. She will be 8.5 months old. With DD1 I didn't leave her until she was almost 15 months!!
When did you have your first night away? What did you do?

Following - my son is 7.5 months and we haven't stayed out later than midnight! Would love to ideas for our first night away.

My husband is a pilot and will be sitting in a hotel for 2 days during Thanksgiving. I'm trying to psych myself up to go fly out and stay with him (free hotel!) and leave the baby with my mom.
ETA: our LO will be 11 months old then

This weekend I just had my first night away from C, just shy if 15 months. We had a wedding half an hour from my parents house and left her there. The wedding was fun. Sleeping in the hotel in NINE was bliss.

LO's almost 21 months and still haven't! Haven't wanted to/ had enough of a reason like @MrsStar: . Also, we still nurse before bed and I don't want to stop until she's ready.

Following! Dd is 8.5 months and we have ony left her for a date night once! I swore I wasn't going to be a parent who never left their child! I'm in no rush for an overnight since I would have to pump so it's just more hassle then it's worth right now.

Ahhh man, I don't know how yall do it! We had our first night away at 2.5 months, and another planned for 4 months.
First night away was for my birthday, and we had a brewery hopping night with friends.

I would have gone earlier, but we don't have parents nearby to watch LO. I think LO was 13 months for me...but DH had been away before that a couple of different times.

We had a wedding out of state when she was 2.5 months and left her with my in laws for about 48 hours. It was way way harder than I expected but we had a great time celebrating with the couple and his parents had so much fun with her.

I have a 2.5 year old and an 11 month old and have not been away from either overnight, except for when I had DD2 in hospital. I'm still nursing multiple times overnight and am not comfortable being away until I'm done nursing. It could be a while. But....have fun!!!!! You guys will have a blast.

Month 6; I went away, I think E was 9/10 months when we both did. I felt bad leaving her until she was STTN

@runnerd: Aw, I wish - we have one grandmother locally who we would leave him with, and she spends 3 out of every 4 weekends/month out of town with her boyfriend so the timing hasn't worked out. I wish we had more overnight babysitting options!!

12 weeks for our anniversary. Honestly, it was easier to leave her when we were still in survival mode and needing a break than when she got older and was more fun

4 months. We were on vacation with my parents, so we just left DD with them and went to a hotel for a night. Nothing big and it was only like 10 hours, it was a nice quite night that we needed.

@Rainbow Sprinkles: A still nurses overnight sometimes too, so I'm kind of nervous but I have tons of milk in the freezer and my mama will take good care of her. Trying to be excited and not nervous!

First time we were away all night was around 4 months I think. We do it fairly frequently (at least once a month or so) - she stays with my parents or MIL and they love it, she loves it and we love it!

The only overnights we've had was the hospital for #2 to be born. We've started the occasional date night now that my folks are more comfortable with the boys, but we aren't set up for overnights right now.

We had our 1st night away when DS was 8 months old. We went on a vacation to Mexico and he stayed home with my parents. He did great and once we drove away so did I! It was just hard leaving him but once we had it was great fun and a good break.

Reading all this makes me realize this wasn't a big deal for me. LO stayed with MIL overnight at 8 weeks old, from 7 pm - 7 am. We got there right away in the morning because I was missing her. We went to a football game and she said "stay home and get a full night's sleep, I'll get up with the baby" and we took her up on it. LO at 25 months has had more sleepovers than I can count, she loves it at both grandparent's house, and it's a nice break. I don't feel guilty about this at all, it' since that it's not a "big" deal for her to stay somewhere, especially when LO2 comes in the spring and I'll be staying in the hospital with DH for a few nights recovering from my c-section.

2.5 months for LO 1- She stayed with my parents for a few nights and drank pumped milk. We went to a destination wedding and had tons of fun but I had to pump a lot while I was gone.
12 months for LO 2- I went to Vegas with some friends.

I still haven't done it at 10 months, although both sets of grandparents would be MORE than happy to babysit. DH took me out for my birthday the other day while his parents watched LO - we were gone from like 11am - 4.30pm and that was hard enough! I'm sure DS would be absolutely fine - it's me that has separation anxiety!

@LuLu Mom: We're similar - it wasn't hard for me to take my parents up on their offer to have E overnight at 12 weeks so we could go away for our anniversary and she spends the night at their place at least once a month now. It is nice to get a break on a regular basis, and I know how much fun they all have at their sleepovers!

@yoursilverlining: Exactly the same here! Grandmas both love sleepovers and LO loves it at the farm more than our house (haha sad but true! ) Nnow that we are in the middle of terrible twos, it's a nice break every once in awhile especially when I was dealing with the first trimester with this pregnancy!
