How old was your lo the first time you went out without him/her? A friend asked me if I wanted to go see Magic Mike this weekend. I declined, I'm not ready yet!! I also don't think my husband is ready to watch her on his own yet either.

I briefly went for a pedi near my house 2 weeks ago (lo is 8 weeks) and i rushed back with wet nails out of nervousness. She was still sleeping LOL

My LO isn't here yet but I've already instructed my husband to make sure it happens by the time LO is 6 weeks. I'm a big believer that the longer you wait the harder it gets and being one of those moms who has a one year old that's never been left with a babysitter is not for me. I will say though seeing Magic Mile wouldn't have been a very tempting offer for me so I probably would have declined too! I just can't get behind that movie or some reason!

Oh may I mention that i got a regular update from dad while gone about her every move like "oh no, she spit out her soother, hurry up". Hahahaha! Funny part is, when I am home, he completely takes care of all her needs but said that he questions himself when I am not around. Its kinda cute

I left LO with my husband while I went to the grocery store, went for walks, etc within the first 2 weeks, but I wouldn't have been comfortable leaving her with anyone else.
This Wednesday we're going on a double date and her grandparents will babysit. LO is just over 4 weeks now. We'll see how that goes, and whether we have to leave dinner early!

3 weeks old an he was left with a baby sitter. Of course he was so difficult that I needed that time for sanity and it was only about an hour.

I would leave LO with DH for 30-60 minutes to run errands on the weekend when he was a few weeks old. At 4 months old now, I haven't left him for more than 1.5-2 hours.
ETA: DH is the only one I totally trust to watch LO for more than a couple of hours. He's the only one you understands my routines/schedule!

II started leaving LO for quick trips (like to target or the grocery store) when she was 5 days old. At 3 weeks me and DH went on a date and left her with my mom. At 4 weeks I left her for 6 hours for a day at the salon.

I've left LO with my mom/in-laws for 1-2 hours, starting at 2 weeks. I think the longest i left her with my husband was for 2.5 hours to do a yoga class!

I went to the chiropracter at 5 days. That was pretty exciting...
We went on our first date night at 2 months, both our girls were wonderful for the babysitter and it was before she got seperation anxiety but after she took a bottle.
And I really wanted to see the Hunger Games.
It took longer than that with our oldest as she was such a colicy little thing that I didn't want to inflict her on others.

2 weeks - I had a post partym visit with my midwife and my mom watched him (roughly 3 hours). Since then I have left him for short periods of time (dentist, doctor, visiting a relative in the hospital, going for a boat rode alone with DH when we are at our lakeouse). I haven't left him for more than a few hours yet - he's 7 weeks. I think I'm ready for a date night with DH though!

Out on an errand, 1-2 weeks. Out for real, like with a friend and leaving DH alone....can't remember but she was sleeping through the night so DH didn't have to do anything.

3 weeks to a family wedding. If it wasn't a close family that we like AND my mom was watching her I would not have gone. It was too soon!!

First time away was postpartum appt at 6 weeks -- I think I left her w/the Hubs for 1.5 hours. We were both pretty worried, but she ended up sleeping the whole time. Since then, we've pretty much been together 24/7 until I went back to work part-time this week
Painful transition!! Thankfully, DH has been bringing her to me at lunch so I can nurse her, so we're only separated for 4 hours at a time

My husband and I went on a 3 hour bike ride when LO was a couple weeks old. I was a bit stressed but it was really nice to have alone time with him and return and know everything was OK.
Good luck.

@mediagirl: Are you bottle feeding or breast feeding? That may make a difference. I alternate, so DH can give the LO a bottle in my absense.

@krsmall: I am. I'm breastfeeding and doing formula. I didn't even get to thinking about feeding her. I just couldn't get my mind past leaving her for a couple of hours already. Er... attachment issues much?
Eh, she's only almost 4 weeks, I have time to ween myself from her.

@mediagirl: I wish I had that time back and he hadn't been so difficult. Cherish it. But make sure you are preparing everyone for those eventualities. I still very rarely leave my little one for anything. He goes to the store with me and went to a sporting event last weekend. I rarely go anywhere without him even at 14 months old.
