Since he was a baby? We have a toys 'r us around the corner from us so I would take a walk with him whenever I was bored. They had some baby stuff too so it was convenient.

It wasn't until the last year that he is really interested in looking at stuff (he is 3.5 years old now). Ours has a Thomas the train table set up near the books so I usually let him play while I browse for new books! So far he hasn't asked to get anything, he is just happy to go in and look.

We started taking her when she was about to turn 3. She is now 3.5 and we have never had an issue there. We might go once a month for something for her or her sister.

We don't really have smaller toy stores. It's basically TRU or Target/Meijer/Walmart. All of those she has been going to since birth.

We've been going to toy stores forever, ever since she was a baby? It's never a big deal. I usually tell her she can pick out one small toy. Yesterday she browsed the TRU aisles for 15 minutes before settling on palace pets blind bags.

We used to go there all the time when they were babies. It's a great time killer. We never buy anything. They just have fun playing in there. Now they're older, 3 and 5, so I don't need to do time killer stuff like that anymore, lol.

We go pretty often as I've never purposely avoided taking them. We also go to the Target toy section pretty much at every visit. It's fine-- they look/touch, put things back, and that's about it. I just tell them before entering the store what we are there for and how we will not whine about not buying other things LOL. DS cried a few times about putting beloved Mickey Mouse stuff back around 18-20 months, but he gets over it quickly as we do our other shopping.

For Toys R Us, the kids like to sit on the sample chairs, etc. It's so big, the kids have the sections they like and then are over it pretty quickly, IMO. I'd say maybe give your LO some time to browse and when it comes to purchasing, have 2 options you approve of and let them choose, as in not exactly total free reign,.

We've always gone. M is 3 and likes to run around looking at all the aisles of items. We never buy anything though so she really doesn't expect anything but to look.

We went to TRU last summer as a time killer. It's blazing hot here, so it's somewhere to get out of the heat and enjoy AC. Both kids loved to play on the battery operated cars they have on display. No problems leaving, but I hardly ever buy him anything at the store.
