I have a huge test I have to take on 10/3. DS will be 1 month old and I'm leaving him w/a close friend while I take it. I'm also EBF. I'm starting to really stress about it because the test is super important and I also can't carry a cell phone with me while I take it. Any tips for me?

awww!! I remember leaving DS! He was 6 weeks old. It went just fine though - he too his bottle and slept most of the time.
Try not to stress because more than likely everything will be perfect! Your baby will still be SO young that he can't really "act out". He's not old enough to really realize you're gone, so the only hard part is making sure YOU will be okay!!
I remember when I first left him, it was game night with my friends and all of them gave me BIG hugs and said, "We're here for you!!" It was SO sweet that they were so supportive, especially when they didn't even have kids of their own.

I'm most worried since I'm not bottle feeding. He is a super baby, the only time he really cries is when he's hungry...:-( and I'm getting paranoid I'll fail the test because I'll hurry to get back to him! Ahhh...

I know it's hard when you are EBFing but make sure you do leave a bottle and pumped milk or formula there. If something like heaven forbid a car accident happened make sure there is some way to feed your LO. Plus when mom is not around and they are hungry you be surprised that LO might take a bottle.

AT that age it is indeed harder for you than for LO. I was worried about the bottles but at that time, my LO sucked on everything in sight, so when the bottle went into his mouth he knew what to do.
Now that he's almost 5 months old, he licks and bites things that go into his mouth and he has a hard time taking a bottle. Leaving him is no longer going well and I even have dreams about it. Bah! It drives me crazy.
Now, I am going to suggest that you do a practice of leaving LO first for you. My first time leaving LO (with his Daddy!) I actually got halfway to town and had to turn around and come back....I couldn't do it. But when I tried again the next week I was more mentally prepared and it went great.

I can't decide if I'll leave her with formula or start pumping earlier than I planned. Luckily she is a mom of an 18 month old so she hasn't been out of the game...hoping the test will take 3 hours, tops!

@lydg: Leave pumped for sure, in my opinion. It's something you'll know LO will like and digest well. At that time you'll have lots of milk: just pump at a time of the day when you are most full.

@cvbee now I just need to look into getting a pump...I'll need one for work anyway. He had to take a bottle in hospital because he wasn't wetting ny diapers and totally refused the bottle...so that freaks me out too!

A baby will never deny themselves of food if they're really hungry! Everything will be ok :).

You might want to Try offering a bottle if you haven't already, just to get her accustomed to it?
