I don't have any experience with this but I just wanted to say I'm sorry that you're having so much stress. Hopefully it will be nothing major.

This is a happy ending story, but I'm still kinda upset at my OB office and how they handled me in this situation.

I had bleeding (didn't know of any issues) and went to the ER on a Sunday. Feared the worst because it was a lot of red blood, filling a pad. But they found a heartbeat and thats all they could say. I followed up with my OB's office on Monday and they did another ultrasound which showed the SCH. Since they just fit me in, I saw another OB in the practice. I specifically asked if I needed to continue taking the baby aspirin and they said yes.

Well the following week (for my regularly scheduled apt), the ultrasound showed a much bigger, very large SCH. My OB was not very positive, saying the 50/50 miscarriage chance and he immediately pulled me off the baby aspirin.

I really feel like they should have taken me off the aspirin as soon as they found the SCH so that it didn't get so large. Once I was off the aspirin, over the next 8 weeks the continued to monitor it and finally around the 18 week a/s it looked pretty much gone. So, a happy outcome for sure, but I wasn't happy with how they just left me on the aspirin for an extra week and created a pretty big pool of blood.

I would highly urge you to speak to a doctor before next Friday. They may have different advice on this, but I wish I hadn't waited a week.

Also, by the way, in doing some research, I think the 50/50 chance of miscarriage is a bit outdated now that they know more about SCH. I will see if I can find the link.

My doctor had me stop taking the baby aspirin when they discovered an SCH. I would demand to talk to the doctor even if he is out or one of his colleagues. But I also agree that the 50/50 number is just not born out in the data. Your nurse sounds misinformed. Just take it easy. I was put on pelvic rest.

My SCH was about 24 x 12 mm. They discovered it at 8 weeks. I never bled externally. I did have some placental damage but LO was fine. Good luck. I know this sucks.

I had a SCH, don't know the exact measurements but I think it was like 2-3 cm in diameter? Anyway, I bled from about 6 weeks to 10 weeks bright red blood with some clots. It sucked but I'm 26 weeks tomorrow with a healthy baby! Just try to take it easy and put yourself on pelvic rest.

Remember everything looks much bigger on the screen than it actually is! Sorry you are going through this momma

I am praying so very hard for you! I am sure all will be ok, that baby is well protected!!!!

Hope you get ahold of the RE, I would Demand it!

I'm hoping for good things for you - there are a bunch of HBers who had some bleeding during pregnancy and all ended up with a baby in their arms (me included!)

My sister (preg with twins after IF!) had a pretty sizeable SCH when she went in for her first US. They watched it closely on her subsequent USs and it went down in size. No bleeding or anything. She's 23 weeks and doing great! Fingers crossed for you!

@mrs bunchy: my ob didn't sound hopeful until we heard a hb...that was the first time I got a congratulations or anything. She is amazing...not rude or cold or anything, but she is just cautious in the beginning. Maybe yours is too!

I have known two people who had SCH and both went on to have a normal pregnancy. Stay positive!
