I don't think I'll know until I have to make the choice, but honestly when I have looked at the 4D ultrasounds of others I have been a little creeped out! So alien-looking. I also feel like we probably wouldn't be able to tell what the baby looked like--except very generally....I usually think new babies look like babies, pretty much--not like their parents or anyone. I guess we'll see when the time comes, if we decide to do that.

i'm going to have to google the difference between 3d and 4d lol. most likely not unless my doctor offers it.

If my insurance covers it, I'm definitely going to get it. My husband thinks its really creepy, too. So if I get it, only I will see it. I'm sure if he saw it, it would probably give him alien baby nightmares. lol

I had one for Mavi at 20 weeks and loved it. I think next time around I will opt to wait a little longer to see a better image.

I really want to get one when I am farther along. They are just so darn expensive and I have a hard time justifying the cost, when there are other useful ways to spend our money...

At our 20 week appointment, the baby was in an awkward position so the Doctor was only able to tell us with 90% certainty that our baby was girl. Well, that remaining 10% was not sitting well with us so we scheduled a 4D ultrasound the following week to confirm that it was.

The still photos of other people's kids do look creepy to me but my mommy eyes thought the ones of our LO were uber-cute (in an alien-ish way). Plus, the 4th dimension is 'time' and it's really cool to see your baby move in real time. Highly recommend it if you can afford it (since it's usually not covered by insurance). Luckily, we found an independent provider that only charged $75.

We didn't get one because it felt more practical to put that money towards baby gear. And I didn't want to get any more ultrasounds than medically necessary.

So the 4D will have to be a 20 weeks. Luckily its covered (80%) but my insurance... so thats fun! my 20 weeks falls between Christmas and New Years, talk about a great way to end the year

I got one done at 12 weeks while I was in for my NT scan.

Sadly that is not an option for us but we do get to do a 3D which I am so excited for because it was so much fun being able to see facial features of our first LO before she was born, like the fact she would has my nose

I was against getting one because I think they look creepy. But at my 20wk anatomy scan, the tech did 3D and 4D (included with the normal scan covered by insurance) and I guess when it's your little bambino/a it doesn't seem as creepy. It was nice to watch her move in real time, yawn, and try to cover her face to sleep.

We're doing another one in January to reconfirm the sex and so that my mom and sister can see the baby.
