The ladies at daycare were telling me how DS loves to play with the foam tiles. I hate toys cluttering up the house and especially the foam mats because they are so big! But...I do love DS and since he isn't all that much into many toys, I might just be caving. Any particular ones you'd recommend? The smaller mat, the better!

Maybe the skiphop animal foam mat? It's super cute! I just got it today but will be returning because its too small. I need something bigger but it might be a good size for you if you're looking for smaller.

They are actually pretty nice to have when your LO is starting to walk. We used soft tiles.

We found some at home depot. They are nice to have and easily portable to different rooms.

@chopsuey119: do you happen to know if they are thicker than other foam mats? I saw an ABC mat at Buy Buy Baby and was gonna get those and they're cheaper than SoftTiles but "look" the same. Just wondering if you had done any comparisons before you bought yours.

I also just got Softtiles and love them! So nice that you can customize and get whatever size, colors, shape, etc. you want, and the quality seems great.

I have the skip hop zoo playmat and it did peel the first week we had it. Skip hop replaced it for me, but as cute as it is I can't say I'd recommend it. If I had the chance to buy again, I'd get a one piece mat that can be rolled ( similar in texture to a yoga mat). Some of my friends have them and they seem easier to put away. They also seem to discourage chewing. But if your LO likes playing with the foam pieces, you could just get some foam puzzles (sold with bath toys) and avoid the mat altogether!

I actually find them to be a PITA. They were constantly all over and our cats loved to scratch them up.

@Mrs. Chen: I've seen different tiles and soft tiles are a little thicker and firmer. They're good quality and worth it I think!
