Before kids, I wanted three. After DS1, just two because I didn't want him to be an only child and my 1st pregnancy was tough. Well second pregnancy I felt way better. And seeing my two boys interact (literally from day one) changed my mind back to 3. I feel like I still have one baby out there. I'll be done after that. I never really thought about how things are set up or a family of four. Guess that doesn't matter too much to me. 4 kids is way too expensive!

We thought we'd have 3, maybe 4, before we started, but now after having two, we are pretty firmly two and through (95%confident). Our girls have both been fairly easy, pregnancy was a breeze, and we can afford a third, but really, we just decided we are ready to move on to the next phase of life and don't want to revisit the baby days again.

Our girls are almost 3 and 16 months and we are on the cusp of life getting easier. DD1 is so easy to take anywhere, whilst DD2 is getting close to the point where she can be entertained whilst out and about without someone having to constantly chase her. We travel a lot and really enjoy going out and doing things - we are so close to being able to do all of that fairly easily again that we don't want to start all over again. Also, I totally agree that the world really seems to be set up for families of four nowadays - I don't want to have to buy a bigger car, rent two hotel rooms, and make everything that little bit harder because we don't fit neatly into the 'family of four' category.

To further cement the point, AF is a few days late right now and I took a test this morning to rule out pregnancy. The entire time I was thinking ' please, please, please don't let this be positive'. That to me says we are definitely done!

I am very lucky and have had very easy pregnancies. So we definitely want a 3 and nothing is really affecting the decision not to. Despite both girls being HORRIBLE sleepers. But that phase is so short in the grand scheme of things.

@Chillybear: My brothers are 6-8 years older than me. Their kids are 12, 9 and 3. My 3 year old LOVES playing with her older cousins just as much as the same age cousin.

We each came from families of 3 so unless something crazy happens with dd2, we'll plan on TTC #3 when DD2 is about 1.5. Even though this pregnancy is a little tiny bit harder than DD1, I definitely don't feel like this is the last.

@Ree723: I agree with so much of this! We are definitely done at 2, I have never entertained the thought of more. I also can't imagine having to go through pregnancy and the baby days again, as much as I live snuggly newborns. I'm excited to move on to the next phases and watch my two grow into little people.

I have a 22 month old and a 7 week old and I change my mind daily. Tuesday I wanted to give the children I already have back...today I could see maybe having another (in 3 ish years, that is!) lol. We're still in our 20s so no major decisons are being made right now

When LO2 was 8 weeks old, I knew we weren't done yet (despite having really hard pregnancies). I felt like our family wasn't complete...but I definitely feel totally 100% done at 3! My stress level is out of this world some days so I know I wouldn't be able to handle another without having a daily breakdown!

I will probably always have baby fever though...I just have to deal!

I always imagined having at least 3-4 kids. After ds1 we were excited to try for baby number 2 but ended up with twins - so having 2 kids automatically went to having 3. Before I finished being pregnant with the twins people were already asking me if I'd try for a fourth (mainly because they're all boys). If it were just up to me, two years down the road I might consider a fourth, but I don't think my husband (who is much older than me) will be able to handle yet another child. I guess we'll see. Not to mention, I'm just as likely to have multiples again. We are already past that "perfect four" number, so it's all blown to s*it anyway, lol.
