Coming to the hive for help!
My four year old has never been *enthusiastic about going to bed, but it was ok. In the last 7-10 days it’s like a switch flipped. He becomes hysterical when it’s time to go to bed and cries/screams/carries on/comes into our room 162782 times. The only thing he can or will say to explain himself is that he’s scared, he’s lonely, he doesn’t want to be by himself, he doesn’t want to dream (?), his thoughts are bad and scary.
Can anyone offer a suggestion? We’ve tried it all I feel. Nothing has happened in the recent past that I can think of that could have triggered some kind of fear. But he does seem genuinely terrified and miserable. We’ve been letting him sleep with us on and off as a last resort and I know that’s only made it worse.
