We are planning on CDing and luckily all of the daycares I've been checking out have no issue with it, and will do any type. I have bought mostly covers and fitteds for newborn and <15lbs. I had always planned to buy more in a larger size (either Thirsties size 2 or a OS diaper) when he got above 15 lbs. But after visiting a daycare, I realized that they will not be able to reuse covers because they put the whole thing in the wetbag and I'm needing to rethink my plan.
I prefer the idea of covers with an insert because covers will dry quickly, I can put the inserts in the dryer, and there's no stuffing needed. But instead of being able to have 6-8 covers, I think I'll need 24 to cover daycare uses. I'm calculating needing to spend ~$450 on a mix of 24 Flip and Thirsties diaper covers and inserts.
My other idea was to buy an AIO diaper system, but the biggest deterrent to me is the drying time and lack of being able to put them in a dryer. We don't have a good place to hang them, and I feel like we'd run in danger of not having enough dry diapers. Given that, I'm guessing our best option is Freetimes since they should dry the quickest. They'd also be easier for daycare to deal with and slightly less expensive, as BBB sells them and I can probably accumulate enough coupons to get them all for 20% off, making the cost ~380.
The cost isn't the highest priority, but it is a factor. Is there some other idea I'm missing (besides pockets, I don't want to deal with stuffing)? Do just put your AIOs in the dryer? Or am I way over estimating the amount of diapers we'll need?
We bought freetimes with the intention of sending them to daycare. My baby is due next month so no real world experience. From here:
