I'm sure this question has been asked 20 million times, but talk to me. At Gap, what's the difference between size 18-24 months and size 2 YEARS?

I'm finding out with jumpers and dresses 18-24 months still has snaps and diaper covers where 2T does not!

Yes! First of all, most 2T pants are too long/skinny for my almost 19 month old and as a diaper wearer I believe 18-24 mo and made to have more room for diapers and also with snaps, etc.

@FaithFertility: @snowjewelz: I'm mostly worried about pajamas (Gap ones are my favorite, and they have 40% off right now, ha!) so maaaaaybe I'd be fine with either size. I'm buying ahead, anyway, so I guess I could always sell them again if they don't work.

@mfa_lady: I originally started buying only 2T but found that DD is mostly too chubby for the bottoms, but tops/dresses are okay, just a tad big.

Isn't 2T the size up from 18-24? Like, it's for 2-3 year olds? That's what I always assumed.

I thought 18-24 months was for that age and 2T was for 2 year olds. 2T will be longer and thinner because that's when kids start to lose the baby fat and start going diaper free. Also it is more common to see adjustable waists on 2T than 24 month size. My kids were skinny so we basically skipped 24 months and went straight to 2T for pants/shorts and just rolled up the bottoms when necessary.

@mfa_lady: I think in pajamas you would be fine with either because they are so stretchy, but the legs are tight enough that if they are too long they just bunch at the ankles instead of trailing on the ground and making them slip.
But I agree that 24 months is usually a little wider and shorter than 2T which is longer and leaner. A lot of 2t stuff just never fit since my LO is almost three and just starting to lose her toddler chubby shape.

2T is definitely bigger at Gap, but in the longer/leaner sense. Not necessarily bigger all around. My DD is 2.5 and still has a bit of a belly, and it's a hard stage because she's out of 18-24 month clothes but is complaining that some of the 2Ts are too tight -- even though they look like they should be a bit big on her still.
