I've heard a lot of people using gerber flat fold diapers as burp cloths. Are they very absorbent and thick enough to work well as burp cloths?

I never used burp cloths, but I don't see why you couldn't use the gerber diapers!

We have them, they worked well. She had reflux so we used them a lot!

@chopsuey119: wow you never used burp cloths? What did you use then?
@artbee: Thanks!

This is a crazy post! I girl at work just sent me a link to them and said "hands down the best thing for burp cloths, not pretty but they work the best!" So I was going to pick up a couple packages, and so much cheaper than burp cloths!

@Mrsbells: Lo didn't spit up much, so I dabbed the corners of her mouth with her blanket usually. Haha or my shirt.

Yes! The best burp cloths! Any kind of prefold is better than cloths branded as burp cloths.

My sister uses them. I think they work fine. She was kind of devastated to find out they were actually diapers.

I found they came in regular and extra absorbent types. I bought the extra absorbent and they worked great.

haha i have a gerber prefold sitting right beside me as a burp cloth.... working pretty good so far! a good not too big (ex. blanket) & not too small (ex. washcloth) size and easy to wash.
i have my eye on the green mountain prefolds though as burp cloths... they look even softer and absorbent...

A user here recommended the OsoCozy prefolds. As a mommy with an infant that spits up massive quantities, we are very happy with them.

I use them and they work well for us but LO doesn't spit up or drool that much. I use them more for our dog's barfy accidents!!!

Use them and love them. We have several types of burp cloths but the cloth diapers are by far our favorite. I attached some cute fabrics to them to make them look nicer. Here's a link to a tutorial

They are all my sister uses! I ended up with 2 packs after my shower & know we'll use them.

We definitely use the gerber dipes as burp cloths along with our nb prefolds that DD has grown out of. They're WAY better than the "burp cloths" the sell.

Still using them today, and my LO is 16 months old. I wipe off tears, drool, snots, and such. Before when my LO was tiny they were a lifesaver. The more you wash them, the more absorbent they get. I highly recommend them.

@Mrsbells: I recommend OsoCozy prefolds in size 2. I had both those and some gerber prefolds and the OsoCozy were much more absorbent. I always reached for them first. The gerbers are still much better than burp cloths you can get in the store though. I had a couple as gifts and I never used them. They didn't wipe up anything.

I use them as part of the bath routine, for drying my son off. He gets wrapped in a towel, but to dry him off, I use a burp cloth.

Yes! I use them all the time for spit ups and any liquid accidents. They are great! Highly recommend.

I bought them for my son but never really ended up using them much for some reason. They're really nice and absorbent though. We ended up using a bunch of organic cotton handkerchiefs that my mom bought me from a local korean supermarket because they were cheaper. I ended up buying 20 handkerchiefs. I liked using a new cloth every time he burped/spit up.

As soon as I read the title of this thread I said, of course! I actually don't know anybody that would use them as actual diapers...haha..
