Ugh that’s hard. Is there anywhere you can put the baby that’s out of reach from the toddler? Like a bouncy seat up on a kitchen island? (That doesn’t sound terribly safe now that I suggested it...) I remember the rock and play was better than a bouncy seat on the floor but wasn’t perfect. She could still reach.

@bhbee: it’s so annoying. And your description of the natural consequences and how now it’s goingnto take longer before I can spend time with the big kid... exactly. Still, at almost 11m! I know that my older son has had the best behavior when I just do my best to give him the most attention I can, and when he gets super handsy with the baby I just have to redirect him. I never got to use the play mat/baby gym for this very reason, whenever baby girl would be engaged for a precious minute in a toy, he would come aggressively cuddle her feet or whatever and she’d cry. Ugh it’s blood boiling! It gets better as baby gets hardier and can play and interact! I think this is your third so you know that of course.

Yep, baby wear, rock and play, pack and play, etc. We also tried not to worry about it too much unless it was really to the level of pestering, and the novelty started to wear off.

We talked a lot about giving space and it he couldn't give his brother some space to play then he got in trouble. He understood because he didn't like when baby messed with his stuff (which is minimal early but picks up quickly). Honestly we still have to talk about not playing rough or stealing toys or just leaving each other alone at 4.5 and 2, so you might as well start now.

My impression is that he's not hurting the baby - not hitting or poking, but rubbing or touching like he want to be close to baby? If that is the case, could you set aside some specific time for him to hold/cuddle the baby? If his love language is touch, he may be trying to show/receive love for/from his sibling.

@mrsbubbletea: what is it with the feet! Gah! My daughter just incessantly pulls, tickles, licks, hits, pinches and bites my 8 month olds feet. Always. It’s the worst when I wear them; she grabs hold and just pulls. It drives me insane (and it really ticks her baby brother off too)
