Who else hates it? I just got some blood drawn and not only do needles already make me anxious, but they had to take blood from both my arms and now I feel all light headed and woozy! Bleh.
My DH hates needles and usually ends up throwing up after getting them.
How do you react to getting blood drawn?

I'm fine with blood draws, used to be a phlebotomist so I've done my own draws on more than one occasion. (I know, I'm weird. lol)

I'm fine with having blood drawn, but I can look. As long as I'm looking away, I'm fine.
I could never draw my own though!

Ugh, I always have issues too because my veins are hard to find. I try and eat a granola bar right before, and lie down while they're doing the draw. Hope you're feeling better!

@Foodnerd81: I keep my eyes squeezed shut and I do my best not see any blood... still makes me anxious lol.

I'm fine with it, but apparently my veins are harder to get to than normal. That can be a fun time with an inexperienced phlebotomist

I'm usually pretty pro. I've done lots for various reasons and am never bothered by it.
However, I had to do a fasting one where they took like 8 vials in my first trimester and they blew the vein and had to switch to the other arm and when they poked it in, I passed out, woke up and threw up. Supposedly pregnant veins are harder to find/get blood out of.

I can't say I love it, but it doesn't bother me too much as long as I look away while someone else is doing it. I have had to jab myself in the finger in front of an undergrad lab class several times now, though, to demonstrate how to collect a blood sample. Those experiences have made me more used to the idea.

Oh gosh, I used to HATE it. Like I would throw a fit and cry like a baby. Then I got pregnant and had a miscarriage last year. Even though I had a D&C, it took 2 months for my hcg levels to get back to 0, so I had to have my blood drawn once a week. I got over it. Now that I'm pregnant again, I'm so used to it. It takes them FOREVER to find a vein. I usually require at least 3 sticks because I have tiny veins that "roll." I guess it's glad that I'm over it now because I'm usually there for 20 minutes with the nurse trying to get some blood.

@MrsScallop: Gah I HATE finger sticks! seriously.. I would let our new techs practice blood draws on me before volunteering for a finger stick!

I've had my blood drawn so much it doesn't really phase me anymore. One time they took 9 vials and I almost passed out. That wasn't fun.

@runsyellowlites: Oh I know! You probably know this, but it really depends on where you do it. If anyone goes for my finger tip, I tell them to do the side of my finger where more blood vessels and less nerves are. It isn't so bad that way.

I used to be the worst! When we first started TTC I would cry and DH would have to come with me and I had to lay down. After all I've been through, now it's pretty much a breeze. I still don't look though! If it's someone taking my blood who hasn't done it before, I always tell them I'm not good with it, so they're extra careful!
Now getting a shot....that's another thing! Def. made a huge a$Z of myself a few weeks ago when I had to get RH shot. (In the a$Z as a matter of fact.) Luckily DH happened to be at that appointment and was in there with me. I cried and snotted all over the place! But you know what, it wasn't "that" bad. I must be growing up or something....

I'm ok with it, I try not to look though. I have "great" veins, so it's normally pretty quick. With M's birth the nurse I had was the first and only to ever complain and it took her forever, they brought in a different nurse and she went on and on about how I'm the perfect person for blood draws and IV's... lovely.
I'm a chicken when it comes to shots though, hate them. I use to give them to my goats and horses no problem, but I cringe when it's my turn. They stalled my labor and gave me a shot for M's lungs and then magnesium sulfate, those were the absolute worst!!! To make matters worse one of them, I can't remember which) was in my @ss, the other my leg.

I sometimes feel like I'm going to pass out during it, but have found that it happens when I have to do a fasting test...I hate those so much!!! I dread getting blood drawn but always chug water before so my veins are easier to find!

I kind of like getting blood drawn! I like the flow out of my arm and the bubbles it makes as it mixes with whatever is in the bottom of the vile. I am weird, I know. hahaha

My veins are easy to find, and I don't mind getting my blood drawn. I just hate it when I bruise, which happened a lot in my first pregnancy every time I had blood drawn. I have lucked out this time and come out bruise free.

I'm a big fat wuss. I want to cry and sometimes I get lightheaded and feel faint.
I had so much blood drawn during fertility treatments and throughout pregnancy that ingot used to it. I didn't have any blood work done until this past Spring, and I'm back to Big Fat Wuss status!!
