How long did it take to get used to calling your LO by his/her "real" name (not baby or buddy or lil guy, etc)?

I have a feeling we'll take to it right away. We're so excited to call her by her name~!!!

I called her by name in my belly, so I think that helped.

It felt foreign for the first few days each time! With Maisie it was hard because we didn't want to call her by the name we chose in front of her birth family because they chose a different name, so we used nicknames while in the hospital... bug to be specific. We couldn't wait to call her Maisie though!

@Mrs. Jacks: Awww. Cute.
I am trying to adjust--and trying to come up with a good nickname that's baby like and realated to his real name but not "lil guy."

we are still getting use to it and DD is 7 months! I think we used nicknames too much!

We use pet names all the time, probably more than we should. I think we got used to just calling her "baby" when I was pregnant because we didn't choose a name until 2 days after she was born.

it's easier for me to say baby girl and baby boy. lol. they're a lil over 3 weeks old now and i've already tried to call them by other names we were thinking about.... but i think i got it down now. lol.

We actually have started calling her by her name so I don't think the transition will be bad. Although I suspect we will call her a whole host of different nicknames along with her actual name!

We still hardly ever call DD by her full name; 90% of the time we use a nickname. Actually, I don't call DS by his name most of the time, either, unless I'm talking to someone outside the family.

@pastemoo: DD has like a million nicknames. One is a shortened version of her first name (like Beth instead of Elizabeth); most of them are random little names I made up (like Farty McGee).
I mainly call DS by a nickname that is his first name and middle initial, but he gets called a lot of random names, too. I do use "lovey" and "honeybear" a lot for both of them, though.

@pointybird: I just wanted to say that I love your user name and I wonder how many people get it!?

@Mrs. Jacks: Nobody gets it! It's my username all over and you are the first person to comment on it! I'm happy to find another mom/Steve Martin fan here

Love!

We've been calling her by her name since we found out we're having a girl so I don't think it will be too much of a transition. The only other thing we ever call her is baby girl. Before finding out it's a girl we never really had any nicknames.

He's 2 mos old and it's still kinda weird haha. I call him lovey, or little love a lot, or just baby
