Help! My son's 7th birthday is in a week and a half and I'm struggling with what to get him as a gift from my husband, daughter, and me. He's obsessed with cars, magnatiles, baseball and his iPad but I feel like he has all the cars, magnatiles and baseball gear he could ever need. We considered a Nintendo Switch but I'm reluctant to go down the video game path for fear that it will become an obsession (plus he already plays games on his tablet). He already has a bike, scooter, ride-on car, etc. Does anyone have any great ideas for a boy this age?

Does he like LeGOs? What about a big outdoor toy - soccer goal, basketball hoop, kiddie water slide, inflatable sprinkler?

How about legos? Snap circuits have also been a hit with my boys. Not sure what kind of outdoor space you have but a badminton set is great too or a slackline.

We're not big on legos because he doesn't seem to love the building process and they seem to fall apart with heavy play. These outdoor toy ideas are interesting. Thanks!

My nephews got a basketball hoop at 8 and 12 and they really loved it and that's a gift that obviously grows with them if that is something you are after. Otherwise legos seem to be a big hit. This is kiddo specific and depends a little bit on being ok with delayed gratification gifts but would your son appreciate an experience gift such as either a pass or an amusement park or museum or a special day/trip type thing.

We got my nephew a cool Klutz book about making a LEGO movie with an iPhone. It's essentially teaching how to do stop action animation.
