A few of my friends have kids (boys and girls) turning two this year and I have no idea what to get them. Any recommendations? Do you have a LO around 2 years old with a favorite toy?

Let's see. DD has really gotten into imaginative play this year. Her favorite toys are her shopping cart, play food, play kitchen, Playschool doctor's set, Melissa and Doug cookie baking set, and dress up box.

My niece is almost two, and she adores the wooden train set I have for my daughter. All ikea, very inexpensive yet well constructed.

When my niece turned two, she wanted creative/imaginative play gifts. We got her art supplies. Color Wonder stuff, crayons, blank notebook, crayons, stickers, coloring books, and those paint with water books. She loved it!

I agree with the imaginative play items. I had a few friends' kids turning 2 last year, and I went with dress up, play food, and this sweet thing:
I really want to get one for my son, actually.

My LO will be 2 in April and he loves the stacking train @pelikila: posted. He also loves these Melissa and Doug big rig trucks (each truck is 2 pieces). He plays with them everyday and it is the first thing he reaches for in the morning! He also loves his Wonderworld flower stacker and Thomas trains. If you get crayons I recommend the Melissa and Doug ones. They are made from plastic and don't break!
