My shower is this weekend. I've had a lot of gifts shipped directly to me - most unwrapped, some from shower attendees, some from people who can't make it. What do I do with them? I guess, specifically if it's unwrapped and from someone attending my shower? Should I have it put out anyways?

I only had a few of those but I just thanked the person and did not bring it to the shower. But I also had my shower four hours away so I know no one expected me to bring the gift all the way there to bring it back home. If people wanted to ship it ahead of time and have you open it at the shower they could have had it shipped to the host.

If the shower is at your house, I say put it out with the other gifts.
If it was being held somewhere else, I'd say just make a note so you can mention it while opening gifts without bringing the actual gift.

I would bring out the gifts that the shower attendees gave you, but stash the rest. I got almost embarrassed (felt very blessed!) by all the gifts, and was glad I didn't bring the gifts of those unable to attend.
Use the opportunity to open those buggers, write and send the thank yous, and wash/put them away!!

Know I have a 4moms mamaroo and a 4moms infant tub because it says it right on the OUTSIDE of the box. It came from out of town IL's who are flying in on Friday. I plan to wrap the outside of the box, put them in the trunk, and not say anything. If they ask, I'll just say he hostess must've wrapped it. The funny thing is the gifts will be in the trunk, and they're riding with me to the shower lol. My mil really wanted her gift to be a surprise, but she ordered off registry and shipped to me instead of hostess. Oh well! I would bring gifts to the shower of out of town guests will be there. They'll want to see you open their gifts, and are probably excited. -

@Mrs. Coral: My shower is going to be tiny - like 12 people. So I don't want to look lame and like I have no friends but I also don't want to look like I'm showing off gifts either. I guess it's just a balance of the two? I hadn't even thought of this at first and opened one and already returned half, LOL!

@dc yoga bee: Haha, we have a bunch that came unwrapped in original packaging. So much for the surprise?! One is from a family friend coming from out of town. DH told MIL that he got home before me and hid the writing on the box.

If they're not coming I would not display them, and just whip out the ones from people attending. If your shower is not at home I wouldn't even bring them!
