It's that time of year again! Actually it is a month earlier because both does got bred on the first try! We had twins tonight and are expecting the other doe to kid any time.

@Mamaof2: we sell most of them. Last year we had an unintentional bottle baby (she got sick and wasn't strong enough to nurse, and then decided bottles were way easier anyway) and we kept her. We also kept another doe that we plan to breed this fall. But we've sold all of the other kids. This year we already have 6 reserved, so our other doe better have 4 again!

Such cute pics of the mama goat living on her babies!
@Mrs. Turtle: what do people usually do with them after you sell them?

@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: Most of ours have ended up as pets, but the breed is meant to be for milk. They're basically mini dairy goats, a great size for small acreage or a family that doesn't need much milk. Ours produce about 1/2 to 1 quart per day, even when they're nursing kids (we milk once per day and the kids take care of the rest).

@Mrs. Turtle: that's really neat. Talk about farm to table!

Wow sooo awesome!!! They are adorable! You will have to post when your other goat has her babies!

@MrsBrewer: I will! My guess is tonight. She turned her nose up at grain this morning which basically never happens. I'm working until 7 or so so I'm really hoping she waits till then!
Here's one from this morning. I couldn't get a good shot of the little buck. More to come. To give you an idea of size...those are cinder blocks and 2x4s she's laying on. I haven't weighed them yet but I'm guessing these two are about 2.5 lbs.

@Mrs. Turtle: Sooo tiny!! omg! I commend you for going to work, I would just stay home and squeeze them all day! hahahahah

@MrsBrewer: Believe me, if I didn't absolutely have to, I would be at home. Unfortunately we run our own business and I have a client meeting today, so I couldn't miss it. I sure wish I had some kind of monitor I could view from here!

@Mrs. Turtle: Thanks! We are looking to get a couple goats in the next few years so I always like to hear what people have.

@Ms. RV: Oh, how fun! I adore our goats. They're as friendly as dogs, but don't need to come in the house. And they're so so safe with the kids. I can totally trust them with our two toddlers, which is more than I can say for any of our dogs. And making cheese from milk fresh from that morning is pretty hard to beat.
This is how much I trust them. This is one of last year's babies.

@Mrs. Turtle: We go to a micro farm show in the next town over each month, and all of the goats have always been super good with DD. While our town is farm animal friendly, our neighborhood isn't so we need a new house before we take the goat (and chicken) plunge.

OMG I remember when you posted baby goat pictures last year. So, so, so precious! At that time I asked my DH what kind of permit he thought we might need to keep goats in a city backyard, haha....and just the other night we were talking about the garden we are making for our new home, and somehow farm animals/goats came up, and I thought of your post from last year and was asking him if he'd ever seen baby goats!!! Too, too, TOO adorable!

@Ms. RV: Got it. I get towns or neighborhoods not being goat friendly. They're pretty loud when they want you to pay attention to them and you're ignoring them!

@PinkElephant: Baby goats are just the cutest things. Whenever we have kids I just want to sit out there and watch them.

@GoGoSnoGirl: Thanks! I think they're pretty awesome.
We had three more last night from our other doe. There was a fourth, but she was stillborn. Luckily the remaining three and mama are doing really well.

@birdofafeather: Thanks. It was a bummer but they have such a time with quadruplets so I can't say I'm not a little relieved she only has to raise 3. This is our doe with less of a supply too, so she really didn't need to be trying to feed 4.

Oh those pictures are the best!! DD adores goats, she thinks the way their hooves look when they climb on fences is hilarious.

@PawPrints: Goats are pretty entertaining. We spent like 4 hours outside with ours yesterday in an effort to make the kids tired enough that they would go to bed easily even with the time change. It worked!

I love these pictures! I remember your posts from last year - so I am thrilled to see this pop up! Congrats on the new kids!
