We are pretty much the same! LO needs a lot of help going down for naps, but night time is easy. I'll definitely be interested to hear tips!

Honestly we have the same problem. I've started a really strong nap routine: we go into the nursery, put LO into his sleep sack, read a short story, then rock for 1-2 minutes until he's drowsy. I then put him into the crib and he wakes up within 5 minutes. SO frustrating. At this point, I just let him fuss/talk to himself and only go into to rock/soothe if he's all-out crying. I do this for an hour then get him up.
I'll tell you...some days are impossible. Yesterday, for example, he slept for a total of maybe 40 minutes in 3 little spurts. He's only 3 months old! AAAAAARGH! I'm just trying to stick with it and be consistent, even though it's hard. He will catch on eventually. At least...I hope...

Subscribing! Nighttime has been easier for us but naps take ten mins of rocking at least and then whe usually wakes after 15-30 minutes. He happily rolls around for up to 20 minutes and then squawks. I feel your pain!

Same problem here. He woke up at 6am and has been awake since. He fell asleep in my arms but the second put him down he woke up.
I am so hungry

@matador84: just put him in the swing long enough to eat a can of tomato soup. Success!

@matador84: I remember reading someone said they somehow nursed while hovering above crib... Ha! I'm only 5"2 and can barely get him in the crib now that he's longer and bigger so I can't imagine.

@matador84: Some babies just aren't nappers, according to my pediatrician. But apparently just allowing them "quiet time" in the crib is okay so leave him in there for a while!

I did CIO accidentally for naps, and it helped. The other thing that worked was white noise and blackout blinds. Have you tried any of those?

@caffeinated: Blackout curtains and white noise totally changed our naps!

That being said, we still have this issue often at 9.5 months. She's just not a good napper. She's good at other things though!

How old is he? Little M wouldn't take more than a short catnap from 4-5.5m. Then at 8m he dropped to one nap a day. I used to nurse him to sleep, but that stopped working a while ago.

We had the same problem as you until I asked daycare what her trick is - yes I wanted 14m to finally think to ask - she washes his face and hands with a really warm wash cloth, takes his shoes off and puts him in a sleep sack and reads him one book and he goes down like "woosh."

Now there's no "woosh" over here, but the warm cloth works really well and closing the blinds is new for us, but seems to help. I also use white noise just like night. Just having a routine and one so similar to bedtime where the cloth is like his bath, has worked wonders for us over the past couple weeks. Plus, I've been putting him down at the same time every day (12:30). The change has been really remarkable.

ETA: I wouldn't worry about using the blackouts - they know things are different at home and daycare, if it helps you, do it!
