Weird post...

A co-worker of mine heard me say I was joining a CSA this summer and told me she was looking for a few people to go in on a cow with her.

I am not generally an organic type person but I do love the idea of eating local (organic is a plus) especially when its reasonably priced and convenient. My issue with making the leap entirely is how outrageously priced places like Whole Foods are.

Anyways - wondering if anyone has had experience with splitting a cow before? Sounds like its cost effective ($400 for approx 200 lbs of cow - which is a super deal considering the steaks and roasts you get). She also mentioned that the farm through in 10lbs of boneless skinless chicken breast for each buyer last time.

I love the idea of having hormone free local beef (and maybe chicken) in my freezer at my disposal.

DH felt a little weird about it...trying to get some other input!
